    Panasonic TX-76PW60A

Not my personal experience! This is quoted from the latest Australian 'Silicon Chip' mag, from the 'Serviceman's Log' (which is always a great read BTW).
I will summarize, due to this being a current story and copyrights.

He received a near new Panny TX-76PW60A (EURO9S chassis) wide-screen for a warranty fix. Something wrong with the width/pincushion correction with some vertical lines which vanished after a few mins.
.....long-winded comically unsuccessful fix-testing cut here......
The serviceman eventually noticed C582 (470nF 400V) which he said looked like it had a 'small lump of varnish' on the side of this 'brown polyester' cap.
He removed it and found it was actually a leak from a small crack in the side of the cap.

Unfortunately, no mention of cap brands, nor what he used as a replacement.

Panasonic makes film caps, and they are coated with brown epoxy.

That 'small lump of varnish' on this 'brown polyester' cap could be the brown epoxy that PeteS in CA is talking about.

??? Film caps are usually pretty good. Except for COG ceramic, the tempco and change with applied DC voltage for even X7R can exceed 50% (decrease in capacitance). Z5U and Y5V can exceed 75%.

the lump may have been molten poly or mylar coming out of a crack in the epoxy dip.
they often crack open and spill their molten guts when they fail.
likely an s correction or yoke return cap.
