    what is that component?

    Hello,
i have SSD Drive suddenly stop working, and there is so important files inside it. i'm trying to fixing the board, measuring the components using multi meter.

but i'm confused about that component. is it a diode? (BE)

    i uploaded 3 pictures .

when i negative multi meter cable on negative diode side (if it a diode of course) and positive to positive i hear a buzzer from multi meter with reading on the screen (0.185V) while the multi meter on diode test mode.

if that component is a diode, i think its a bad component, right?

      schematic mark is not clear.
i take a new pic without the component. and attach it again in that reply

        Re: what is that component?

The schematic shows it is a diode. If you confuse while checking with digital meter, you can check it with a analog multimeter if you have.

if u confused, remove it and measure outside circuit

It looks like a TVS diode .

              Re: what is that component?

It could be a bzx399-c6v8 zener diode?
Or panasonic, DB2J20900L 20v 3 amp schottky barrier diode
It does look like other Nexperia diodes

If it is a zener or tvs diode the anode should go to ground, 0.185V would suggest a schottky diode

                Edited because i`m a fool.

TRUE: If it is a zener or tvs diode the anode should go to ground

                  Re: what is that component?

The anode is connected to the +5 volt power, I would think it is just for reverse polarity protection and is a schottky barrier diode. You should have 5 volts on the anode, connector side and about 5 volts on the cathode. (VCC5) R100 (000) is additional protection

I have had this in my wish list for quite a while now and I might need to test BMS protection board with this device because of the limitations of the battery testing machine that I have been using

What this will allow me to do is use my load testing machine that is having issues with the voltage cutoff set/ current meter monitoring system and I decided not to try to replace it or repair it I just going to use a very primitive load testing...

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                    by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

                    Hello everyone,

About me, my goal and the equipment I (don't) have:
I am brand new to this forum, and I am eager to learn about repairing laptops. I have an engineer background although I haven't done electronics for a while. I have watched several Youtube videos in the last two months, trying to understand how to diagnose a faulty motherboard. I have a USB-C Amp meter and a classic multi meter. No DC Power Supply to inject voltage, no soldering iron to replace components.

About my issue and my goal:
A friend of mine has a MacBook Air M1 A2337 that does not...

                    Hello everyone,

PSU is made in late 2019 and seems barely used judging by the lack of dust on its innards.
+5Vsb is all right, grounding PS_on results in a relay clicking and nothing more, all outputs dead without even a flinch.

Checked inside, at first glance all seemed ok but then noticed something on the primary heatsink, which I promptly removed along with all its attached devices - there were clear signs of insulation breakdown above the C3D04060 diode. The device was overtightened from factory and the tab squished the sil-pad, it all was a matter of time,...

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...
