first try a scandisk with /F parameter. sometimes it restored hdd functionality.

if that didnt help, u can try partition recovery.

u can try also "hdd recovery tools" that boot from cdrom and do a scan-repair.

Can you show us the contents of sector 0? That's where the partition table lives.

You can use a freeware disc editor such as DMDE:
                http://dmde.com/

Can you show us DMDE's partitions window? If all that you have done is to "initialise" the drive, then the fix should involve only a few clicks in DMDE. I can help you with this if need be.

had same isseu earlier with WD external 500GB HDD.
Customer said virus did it not sure though.

I used EaseUS Partition Master Free edition and recovered all files at earlier state.

Re: how to recovery a not allocated hdd

IMHO I would not start by throwing all kinds of data recovery software at the problem. Instead I would patiently examine the damage with a disc editor (in read-only mode) before deciding on a course of action. IME in the storage forums, users often accept Disk Managent's offer to initialise a drive, not realising that this procedure is data destructive. The solution in such cases is to rewrite the partition table with a partition recovery tool. DMDE can do this in a couple of mouse-clicks.

Chromebook recovery failed - how to fix it
                          by volinakis
So I had a Asus C433T Chromebook enrolled and after I modified bios I had to reinstall Chromium. I made a USB recovery stick with Chromebook Recovery Utility but I got "an unexpected error has occurred ..." message. I did try with another USB stick, etc. etc. -all steps found on internet about this issue and nothing worked.
Finally I found a site where they suggested to try with an older image and ... it worked!
                          What I did:
                          - when “Chrome OS is missing or damaged” message appeared I pressed Tab key and found: read only firmware id: Google_Rammus. xxxxx.xxx.x....

                          PS5 Disk Tray issues.

I have a PlayStation 5 CH-1215A with a Disk drive not reading disks anymore. (accepting and ejecting very slowly.)
Knowing the PS5 has a married daughter board for the disk drive I made sure to use that and replace the rest of the disk tray as it* was owned previously by an indoor smoker.
Once the job was complete and put back everything together, I tried to insert a disk with no luck at all...
So, I checked voltage going from the ps5 to the daughter board and am only getting the 5V rail.
With that knowledge I preceded to check all the fuses for the 12v rail on the main...

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - M.2_2 port not working correctly with SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD
                          by DynaxSC
                          Hi,

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.

Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.

The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:
                          • The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
                          • POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket
                          ...
