DELL M1530 Power on but No Video

    The problem:
when i connect the ac adaptor plug, the system power on itself, fan start spinning, led amber blinks, but no video.
GPU,chipset, cpu goes warm, what you think a gpu/bga issue or mosfets/power issue.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Tnx

A lot of Dells have the amber light flash problem, with various causes. I would google that model and see. I have had many of the Dells, do this from bad Jacks, wrong watt powersupplys, bad mosfet, and even ground issues. Best of luck on that one. let us know what you find.

Most M1530 failures I see are video related. It either has the Nvidia 8400M or 8600M, both of which were failure prone.

Just reflowed all the bga on the board; no result.
I think one of these babies need to be reballed (gpu bridged?).
Will keep you informed on the process.
            Best regards.

if it does use a GF8400m-8600m on a MXM card, replace it. (preferably with an ATI)
those die like flies. reflowing them only works for a couple weeks at best (if at all)

@ Scenic, it s gf8600, reballed now and works perfectly.
Reball only as last chance,I hate do reballing (time consuming and from a business perspective time is $); i prefer do reflows, i have machines reflowed 1 year ago, still working fine.

Same here, the quality of the cooling system plays a big role as well.

I have one in here, powers on and shuts down in 4 seconds. even if I press power button or not my power supply shows 0.20Amper while plugged in. is this a Nvidia chipset problem too ?

                      Code:
                      0.20Amper while plugged in
I dont think so, 0.20 could be other problem.

indicates a faulty chip, fet, or capacitor. Check SIO, LAN Chip, Sound Chip for overheating.

first thing to do is always check coils for short. check first for 3.3 and 5 volt if present (i suppose yes as it start and then power off. after check all coils for short u can trace back where the problem is.

                              Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. ๐Ÿ˜…

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

I have a DELL G5 5587 LA-E993P here that after a maintenance process (changing thermal paste, thermal pads, and general cleaning) turns on for a few seconds, but just before showing video it turns off.
When connecting it to the power source it indicates normal consumption, and when pressing the power button the fans spin to maximum, and after a few seconds it turns off.
I can see that the screen turns on the backlight for a fraction of a second and then turns off along with the entire computer, and the boot process restarts.

If I remove the RAM then it shows color codes...

                              Hi guys,

This is my first post! ๐Ÿš€
I have no idea what Iโ€™m doing, but Iโ€™m learning by trial and error.

Iโ€™m currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490โ€”one of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

                              Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
                              Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
                              Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                              Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

                              Hello everyone,
I've recently gotten my hands on a defective XPS13 9380. I will attach a zip of the schematics and boardview.
My first discovery on the Board was that the reverse current Diode PD103 of the 1st USB-C was blown.
Nothing to worry about, the board got 3 USB-C ports which support Power/Charging. On I go.
Next I inspected the power-rails to see why the diode blew up and found a short on the 3V3 rail which I traced back to the Power-IC for the LCD (UZ2). I desoldered it and the very low-ohmic short is gone. I checked on the LCD-connector that there's no short...
