Dell Vostro 3400 LA-K033P Charging issue
This unit came in with a prior charger repair attempt. Previous place replaced chargers cable but connected ID pin to Vout pin and Vout to ID pin and caused PSID pin circuit failure
Laptop post with "The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined" message.
in quick viusal inspection PSID circuit seems normal, PQ1 and PQ2 measures good, but I read 3.3V on PQ1 drain with or without ID pin connected, there shouldn't be 3.3v when ID pin is not connected am I right ?
Guidance an references will be appreciated. This unit came in with a prior charger repair1 Photo

"Intel ® Boot Guard is a feature that aids boot-execution integrity through a
chain of trust. Each module is designed to authenticate and load the next
module in the boot sequence, starting from the platform root of trust. Intel ®
CSME enables storing the Intel ® Boot Guard policy in PCH Field-Programmable
Fuses (FPF), so that the user can be more confident that the system is running
an authentic, OEM BIOS."
Which translates as middle finger for us repairers.....

Not the same model but I got the same notification on several Thinkpad E580 after USB-C charging port replacement. Their battery were drained to 0 eventually charging was drawing a bit higher amps than usual, which "maybe" causing this notification to appear. In next couple of minutes notification disappears
Did you try wait for at least 10 minutes to charge then reattach charger ?Last edited by tomodachi; 02-12-2024, 06:13 AM.

Same exact issue happened to me with few units.
I do believe DIMM slot is failing due to poor soldering from CPU side. I strongly believe a proper reballing would solve this issue.Last edited by tomodachi; 02-09-2024, 01:58 PM.

Re: is something special needed when replacing audio ic?
Especially Realtek codec chips are very heat sensitive and need to be worked on quick and with a bit lower temperature.
if possible, try to remove audio chip by heating board from bottom side, not directly from above, this is a method I use
