  • Re: Samsung LCD will not power on!

I have a 46 in Samsung that I got for 50 dollars, that the fuse on the T-Con board caused that.

  • Re: Aspire 7520G - blank screen

First off, can you shine a flashlight on the screen and see the picture? if you can, I would try a inverter. should be a long slim board just below the sreen. you will have to take off the bezel to get to it. Could also be a bad screen or a bad cable. I have also seen it be bad pins on the motherboard side of the cable, and rarely but not heard of it could be no voltage from the motherboard to the inverter.

Ok, I will get them posted tonight. Bad part is, it has a different cable plug in, and a regular screen don't seem to work with it.

  • Gateway HX2000 20" Widescreen

Ok, I got some monitors this week from the local recycler. One of them is a Gateway HX2000, it is a real nice 20" widescreen. I have recaped all of the elecralitic caps, and it still loses backlight after a few seconds. I checked all my voltages, and they seem steady (no fluxuation on them). I was just wondering if anybody out there has worked on these yet? it was made in late 2009. I was thinking maybe the backlights themselves? or maybe one of the solid caps near the transformer?

PS I also have found that there was a recall order for rework on them, but cant find out wh...

  • Re: Gateway 900G frustration

Just another thanks on a great thread. I took the time to read it and it paid off again. 3 monitors fix same issue, no power. lack of consistant 5 volts, changed out the 47uf 25v cap and all is well in Gateway Land.

Ya, it is. but I was worried if I decide to sale the server when I am done playing with it. I guess I have to decide if money is more important then fun. I do like good cheap fun.

    Time to Play

Well, Today I loaded my Dell PowerEdge 2900 that has (2) Duel Core 3.0 Xeons, 6 gigs of memory, and (2) 34 gig 15,000 rpm SAS Drives. Not bad for a cost of 35 Dollars. I Striped the Hard Drives, and loaded it with windows 7 Enterprise. Took a hole 18 minutes to load from start to get to desktop, Crazy fast. added a sound card, but still need to cut down my 1 Gig Video card to fit a PCIE 8x slot. then it is off to the races (Games). We will have to see how it works.

I have noticed, the most stuff opens almost as fast as you can see.

  • Re: Samsung LN-S4692D Success

    Thanks,

Retiredcaps you are the best, I would have never guessed that.

Today there was a 46 inch P4 Vizio Plasma, that turns on to fuz, but then turns black. I told them I am interested, but I had to do more research on it. I cant afford the cost of a powerboard. but if it is going to be caps I will take it....

  • Samsung LN-S4692D Success

Well, today I got a call from a local recycler and he told me he had a 42" Samsumg Plasma for sale for 50 bucks. So I told him I am not real big on the Plasmas, basicly to much work. but I will stop in and look at it, since I need to drop him off a Laptop I fixed anyway. Well to my surprise when I get there it was not a plasma, but a 46" Samsung HDTV. So I took it home, and started to diagnose it. I found that there was a known problem with the tcon boards in them. I could not find any repairs online for them so I started to check out the pinouts. I found a 5 volt line, that stopped...

  • Re: DV2000 no light on screen

I suppose it is a AMD Proccessor with nvidea video chip. If it does, the Video Processor is the issue, and will need reflowed or reballed.

Good Job, I have found that Viewsonics are one of my favorites to fix. Most of the time it is the cheap caps.

  • Re: vizio 50 hdtv 20a have sound no picture

do you have consistant voltage to all the transformers on the inverer board? and if you do, is there high votage coming out of all of them? if not I would check for issues with your low voltage signal, usely about 3 volts or so.

check for burnt fuses on the invertor.

  • Apples Macbook with windows

Well, today I loaded my Apple Macbook, with Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I really like this thing, but I know it makes the Apple guys real mad. It works better as a hybread, then most Windows boxs. I hope to get my g3 to a duel core intel done this week to, it looks real cool to me. I think I may go back and Duel boot this thing so I have the best of both worlds. Oh ya, I got it for the grand total of swapping the screens in a like unit for a friend of mine. PS still have to see if I can get it to do the double tap om the touch pad.

    Re: LCD-TV repair

I just did a Sharp 26" LCD, and I got all the voltage to the transformers, but no high output. I checked the fuses, and they were good. I later found a bad fuse on the 3 volt signal that tells it it is ok to make the high voltage. It was a very small fuse about 2 millimeters, and after that it worked great. So I say fuse too.

I do have some questions for you if you are good with the Plasma tvs. I have a need to repair a power board on a sony, if you search my posts, you will see what I need.

  • Re: Sharp Aquos LC-26D40U display issue

Could be a few things, but I would say start at the video board becouse it does not seem to be consistant. I would look for caps that are going bad, or overheating logic chip. I would also check thecable going to the screen from it. and last it may be a bad screen, but it should do that all the time if it was, and flexing it would make it better or worse depending.

  • Re: Another good day, and only spent 57 dollars

Yes it is the same board as the DV6000. I have done many of them, by using my heat torch, and also have used hot air guns. Not the best way to repair them, but I cant afford a 2500 dollar ultra viliolt light to remove the chip and replace the cheap tin soulder on them. I just lightly put some pressure on them as I heat them. then update the bios to the newest version, and add a copper shim that folds up and around the heat pipe. I have been working on a full copper fined heat sync for the dv2000, but I need to get it to the cnc machine...

  • Re: Strange Monitor Problem

I have a simular problem sometimes with my gateway 24", but it is that it will not shut off after being on for very long times, like it just becomes unresponsive. I just unplug and call it good, not worth the change of tearing it down if it still works.
