Re: ps3, cok-002, component level repair

The console was working fine but needed to replace the nec tokins
I replaced the nec tokins on both sides with 470uf/6.4v tant caps and used socket wiring wire for the link / jumper wire

I covered up the tant caps and wire and turned on but a tant cap smoked
I removed all the tant caps and checked and re-soldered the tant caps and checked the link / jumper wire which was ok
Tried again but this time It just beeped once, and the red light disappeared
I checked the board and cant see anything burnt but the 12v line was short
I then found out the shorted components were black components (IP2003ATRPBF) (opposite the bag chips) there of them had gone. Once I eliminated them. I replaced them and no 12v short
I tried turning on but got 2 or 3 second ylod

Please any help will be really appreciated
      Many Thanks

          What do you mean
I have gone through the service manual but cant see what is generating the voltage for the rsx and cell

          Are you on skype

how many tants did you use to replace each tokin?
you need about 1200uf total - so usually people use 4x 330uf

Re: ps3, cok-002, component level repair

I tried with 16 each side. Total 32 but didn't work
Then tried 16 one side and 12 on other .
The side with 12 was the side without cell and rsx chips
And the side with the cell and tax chips have 16
I read that If it is instant ylod it could be power not getting to the cell or rsx
Do you know where the voltage is created please
              Thanks

Did you observe proper cap polarity?

the caps are smoothing the power to the cell and rsx - meter the voltage at the caps
btw, the line on tants is positive - just incase you thought they where like polymer or electrolytic types.

well if you follow the inductors they will lead back to a fet or a chip with integrated switches.

On the manual you can find all voltage regulators and such...Chips that have more pins and a bunch of caps around them are your low voltage regulators, the way i tested them was to probe it for a short period of time when the ps3 is on...There should be around 5 power supplies in ps3 ... 1.5v , 1.8v etc... you can find it all in manual and test it yourself

measure the resistance on the rsx and cell side towards the ground, it should be around 3ohm, if low unsolder all the bridges with wire and find out if the low resistance is on the bga side or on the regulator side,
if bga side, damaged rsx / cell

OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

                                      Where may I find parts...

We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...

I currently have a customer's vintage fan on the work bench to repair.
It uses an induction motor with 4 poles. One of the poles is open.
I couldn't find the break so i cut off the original wire.
I have measured the other poles and the resistance is about 28 ohms per pole and I measured the diameter of the wire with my digital calipers and it is 0.35mm in diameter.

I need to work out how much 0.35mm diameter enamelled copper wire i need to order for it to be 28 ohms. I have used this calculator and it says i need 160.35 metres.

                                      The enamelled copper...

Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?
