    Epox 8RDA3+ & VDD fluctuating

    Hi to all out there,

as i experience some heavy fluctuations in the VDD line of my EP-8RDA3+ Rev.1.1, i searched the web and found it to be *bad caps*...
After reading that, i even had to look up what "cap" meant and finally found this site.

The boardmember "Sticky" had the same problem:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1027

Unfortunately, i cannot (yet) identify the bad caps by looking at them (no *bulged*, no electrolytic pouring out etc.)...
Hence i need to identify the capacitators responsible for the VDD supply line.

There are some nice pictures with capacitator values for the 8RDA3+ shown in:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1969
But the relevant caps are still to identify, as i don't want to replace all caps on the mainboard.
I'm going to try and replace the faulties (have soldered on normal electronics before) but i'm a bit scared on fiddling with a mainboard (size/compactness, frying the parts and thelike) although the FAQs in here made me much more confident.

Anyone to help me identify the correct caps out there?

    TIA, Firefox

P.S.: If anyone knows a good dealer for purchase of low ESR caps in germany (as i'm living in Hamburg, germany), i'd be happy to read some advise on this matter also.

I have an 8RDA3+ that I recapped due to fluctuations of the VDD and then finally the VMEM. The video also started to show funny colours. :P

Looking at the center of the board around the AGP slot. All those large caps were replaced as mine where slightly buldging with some leaking, the large caps around the mem were also buldging slightly so they too were replaced.

I didn't bother replacing the caps around the cpu as they appeared to be ok.

No more vmem, vdd fluctuations or strange video display (I assume the vid card wasn't receiving enough volts)

Big Pope is a top bloke...

I'm getting some caps off him for my Antec PSU. If only I discovered this site back when I recapped the m/board.

Here is a list I made for my mobo (the one you linked above) a while ago

I hope it's accurate and that I have not missed anything, because I never recapped her (caps are still fine, even the GSC ones, tho it's no longer in use)

It has 2 serial ports, as pin heards, look at the bottom of the board...

It's hands down the best mainboard I've ever used, had many years fun with it...
