Fake HP mon blank white screen

I bought a fake 22' HP monitor a year ago, yesterday i decided to open it to see if it needs a recap, unfortunately i broke the connector of the controller board to the lcd panel, i tried to power on the monitor (holding the connector by hand), now all i get is blank white screen, can someone tell me plz is it fixable?

LCD panel is a CHIMEI M220Z1, controller board and psu full of crappy Su'scon caps

Can't tell from your pictures exactly how the connector broke off from the PCB.

Can you post a differnt view?

I suppose you can cut off the connector and hard wire all the wires to the panel's PCB... that's a lot of work.

They are not fake (well, initially ....).They are the OEM version Tatung manufacture for them. Some of the units are sold as non-HP (no badges), and some people just get the badge from another HP, or some of them even have the HP logo/model on the front, just covered by a sticker. They are basically the same as an HP Branded unit, except they cost about half the price or even less sometimes.I've seen lots of them, mostly F1703,F1503 or v19 models. It was even more common on the CRT models for the Pavilion series..... it is a very common scenario at the USA-Mexico border, in Mexicali or Tijuana. The more obvious place you can see the fact that it is an OEM version is the back label : it won't say HP anywhere ....but still, it is an HP.even the menus (like in this case) say that.

I was wondering about that when I first saw the pics. I thought, geez the logic board look identical to the HP monitor I'm using right now. Same chipset, same layout!

My unit is full of the su'scon as well and I was super careful when taking this LCD apart. The cable is super fragile.

I agree. They are like that, even the HP-branded-all-over-the-place-original-super-expensive units.

It could also have broken due to poor soldering on the the 2 ground shroud points (which also reinforced the port) when the cable was pulled out all of the stress was on the individual contacts.

It kind of looks like the connector can be reinserted into the black plastic piece on the PCB and the ground shroud could be resoldered (to hold the second piece in place) to make the connector work again.

If that isn't possible because the connector is broken read on.

If you are comfortable with SMD rework this can be repaired. You're looking at a 30 pin connector with 27 contacts used.

Get some Chip Quik and remove the remainder of the old connector from the PCB. After the connectors off suck up any old solder on the board with braid.

Then carefully take note of the wire order and the proper orientation of the connector then you'll have to snip all the wires off the connector from the mainboard, strip them, and manually solder each wire to each trace on the LCD driver board. Make sure you verify wire order and connector orientation BEFORE cutting.

Welcome to the world of electronics where a 2 second mistake causes you hours of mind numbing fun .

              Yea, you could also try to find a new connector if the old one is broken, this Youtube video has great info on soldering SMD components with small leg spacing;

I'll try to solder the tiny wires with the pins of the port, may take me long long time cause i don't have any experince soldering smd componets. Also will really appreciated if someone tell me where can i buy online that tiny port or whatever is called.

Both options will take about the same amount of time.

While I have seen that same female connector on many HP/Benq builds I've never broken one. Since I always disconnected the cable from the video main board end since that connector is more rigid.

Hi all, I’ve got a problem I hope someone can help me fixi.
I have a Panasonic TX-48CX350B tv , it powers up ok but the screen is blank, the backlights are working, there’s nothing else though, no picture or sound. I’m not sure what the fault is called whether it’s BLANK/ BLACK/ or WHITE SCREEN I’ve actually came across this before on a similar tv but just ended up scrapping it, I will upload pictures of the boards etc , if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it...

Hey guys I've got a MSI GS66 Stealth 11ue-007us Board Number MS-16V41 VER.1 with a broken screen connector on the motherboard.I was wondering how I would go about finding a exact replacement for it.I can't seem to find any schematics that would help me so I'm kinda stumped.I did buy a screen connector that I thought was close enough but it doesn't really invoke much confidence in me that it works perfectly as plugging the screen into sometimes does output a "glitchy" image for just a few seconds. So now I'm kinda in a cross road where I'm pretty sure it could be a faulty screen but I...

                    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                    Another TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.

The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.

Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?...
