    80GL17T-40-V / Dell E178WFPC

    Hello,

Does anyone on this site know where I can get one of these tranformers?

It has the number 80GL17T-40-V on it. Its on a Dell E178WFPC inverter board.
When I first opened this monitor I found that one set of ccfl wires were burnt.
So I cut out the burned sections and soldered the ends and applied heat shrink tubing over each wire and then over the set of wires. Its emitting that ozone smell when turned on. I found a transformer on Ebay, but don't really want to wait about a month to receive.

    Let Me Know,

It seems to me that the transformer is putting out the high voltage but there is arcing somewhere in the connection. Can you look the board in the really dark room to see if you can see any arcing?

        Hello Budm,Selldoor,

I didn't see any arcing. I didn't test the transformer. But I can smell ozone and hear an arcing type noise emitting from it. I did desolder it and apply 60/40 solder to the terminals,no change. Thats why I want to replace it. I wouldn't want to sell it doing this.

        Thanks As Always,

That ozone smell could indicate a broken ccfl ..... Perhaps you'd want to take a look again at the lamps?

            Hello All,

This monitor came to me not working correctly. After I opened and repaired the burnt ccfl wires on one set of ccfls, the monitor is now working. Still hear the transformer emitting a screeching noise and making that ozone smell. I then recapped the board except the large one on its side. No change. Removed and re-soldered the transformer with 60/40. No change. So I just need a new transformer and don't want to wait about a month to receive from China.
Does anyone know of a domestic source for such a unit?

I thought I had you covered in my box of scrap parts, but

Three that I found have the following part number:
              80GL19T-8-V 1
              TPV 0618

Two that I found have the following part number:

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

                Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

                Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
                by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

Dell G5 SE 5505 - "Invalid memory installed" after BIOS update.
                by lalle-
                Hello!

I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www...
