    Dull Belinea 1925 S1W

    Hi all,
I have the above monitor which had given good service until it suddenly went very dull.
The backlight seems to be working and the OSD is nice and bright, but the rest of the picture is very dull.
Brightness and contrast are wound up to max.
Don't know if this is relevant but it will only work when colour temp is set on "Custom Colour" with RGB all set to 100%. If I select a preset colour temp (9300K or 6500K) the display goes blank.
I have opened the unit and had a quick look at the boards but didn't spot anything obvious.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Gareth

Do you get the same problem when use this monitor with another PC?
" If I select a preset colour temp (9300K or 6500K) the display goes blank." This may point the problem to the main board.

I've tried several PCs with the same result.
I suspect the main board as the OSD menu window is as bright as ever.
Is there any chance of an economical repair?

        Update-

I had a better look at the boards and I've noticed swollen caps on the main board.
The one at the top (next to screen connector) and two of the group of four to the lower right.
        All are "CapXon" 330microfarad 16v.
They look like they may be leaking.

Is this likely to be the fault and will replacing them cure it?

Appologies for the images. Bad light, no tripod and shakey hands.

Bottom line is probably we dont know. The faulty caps may have damaged another
component - voltage regulator for example.

            I'll try replacing them.
I'm a relative novice to the theory side but the practical work will be no problem.

Do these look like suitable replacements?

Should I replace all the 330uF caps or just the obviously sick ones?

We usually warn against buying caps on ebay lot of fakes about. he does have 100% If they really are panasonic fc then they will just about do - at least they are going to be better than the old ones. I dont understand why he puts up a pic of doubilier caps - they are usually poor sold at maplins ok for some projects but not this.
I would replace them all if same voltge and uf - it a pack of 10 anyway - use them up.

I'll buy them, swap them (all that are same uF and V) and post again if I get anywhere.
                Thanks for the help.

Help with replacing Capacitors on Altec Lansing ATP 3
                    by yuzupatogik
                    Hello,
I have this old (2004?) Altec Lansing ATP3 and i would like to replace the capacitors. I have identified 34 out of the 36 of them as Samxon GR of various capacities and voltages.

I can't find datasheets for the Samxon in any of the following variants:

10000uF 25 v - this one i really want to replace because i suspect it is what causes a dull hum regardless of the volume knob position or if the source is plugged in. I am eyeballing the Rubycon 25PK10000MEFCGC18X35.5 for this purpose. So if i pay a 10x the price part for shipping i might as well go ahead and...

Most Displays I have worked with are of course LCD Or Blueish Fluorescent Types. I Have a Marantz PMD800 tuner with sort of a white display. The display area is a sealed rectangular shape in a Glass Case. Looks like some sort L.E.D. display only not your typical section number type. I picked up this Tuner cheap as the display is very Dim. In front of the circuit is a dull red Plastic lens.

The display is very week and hard to see. I've got my DC 5 Volts allover and also a DC 32 Volt that runs some other section. Power supply looks good front to back. Not familiar with this type...

Ok team. Let’s see if the finest minds on Badcaps can deliver the goods yet again.

Done the usual disconnect PSU from main board and get good result for steady backlight. Panel buffer boards seem in good health with a very small impact damage to one of them that could have been caused by me during disassembly. However when powered up the backlights still remain on so I’m confident there has been so significant damage to those buffer ribbon cables.

I’ll go through the MB with a fine tooth comb looking for shorts but what are the suggestions in the mean time? ...

                    Hello everyone,

I've got this macbook air 2017 A1466 which initially was working good exept for the wifi adapter not being detected by the OS.

After inspecting the board, I discovered some traces of liquid damage around the area of R3558, R3559, R3554 and the pin 1,2,3,4 of U3540 slightly dull.

I cleaned the area with alcohol, took some measurements on the resistors and in the process i accidentally knocked off R3554.
Also the test pads in those area and other resistor were a bit corroded.
By cleaning the corrosion, some of the board mask went...
