Re: Ribbon Cable Disconnecting
Ok..Many thanks ..I thought along those lines as the two ribbon cables feeding the OSD board ..the latches opened that way...I did try but obviously never applied enough pressure so will have another try...So have tried but it does not want to lift in fact it broke one of my fingernails so I am not sure it opens that way as with the pressure I applied it should lift open releasing the cable ...HkLast edited by hairykiore; 07-20-2012, 09:47 PM.Comment

Re: Ribbon Cable Disconnecting
You just pull it to slip it out of the socket, and slip it back in, just make sure to go in straight.
You can see a lot of them on this board.

by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

Anyone know if the ribbon cables are standard across laptops cases like in a PC, or are they proprietary to each manufacturer? I damaged the one that runs between the MB and the power / HDD / Battery Status Indicator LED Circuit Board. The Dell SKU/DPN: ADM70LED. I just need help finding a replacement. Could I possibly use a similar cable from a donor laptop?

by NWArkGuyWell, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...
In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.
I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.
I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ... -
