Need a replacement ribbon cable DELL Latitude E5470

Anyone know if the ribbon cables are standard across laptops cases like in a PC, or are they proprietary to each manufacturer? I damaged the one that runs between the MB and the power / HDD / Battery Status Indicator LED Circuit Board. The Dell SKU/DPN: ADM70LED. I just need help finding a replacement. Could I possibly use a similar cable from a donor laptop?

You can look for a replacement FFC with the same number of contacts, the same pitch, and long enough.
If it has more contacts that necessary, you can cut them.

Hmm...That's a different part... this is what I'm looking to replace. https://www.parts-people.com/index.p...=item&id=21242 but the ribbon cable only. parts-people.com $10 and 4-8 days shipping. Looking for another option or cheaper/faster online or salvage from an donor if ok.

My suggestion is to purchase one of their refurb boards of the same. You will get a new board + the FFC that is a proper fit for your unit.

I think I would agree. Cut with a razor to same number of straight-thru copper contacts and viola! Ok just for my information...what is the "pitch" of the cable you make reference too?

Pitch will be the center of one PCB track to the center of another PCB track.

You can check Mouser / Digikey for the assorted # of FFC options.

From the shared link, you have the blue 'stiffener' on the topside on one end and blue 'stiffener' on the opposite side on the other end. This is important to note.

If you have a micrometer, measure the edge to edge width of the connector used by this FFC. Then count the # of copper tracks on the FFC. From this information, you should be able to locate the FFC from Aliexpress, etc. Again, faster to just source from the above supplier but this is a good learning curve for readers.

Thank you fellas! All the suggestions worked. I clipped a ribbon cable down, and got a replacement OEM charger and put a bit of crazy glue under the power jack to keep it from moving, and I appear to be golden.
