Need to replace some dead Samxon's in a Gateway 900G

My friend gave me this free monitor cause it's just been sitting in his house since December, 2007. Manufacture date is September, 2005.

It wouldn't power on at all so I figured it HAD to be dead Chinese capacitors...I'll upload some pictures later but on the main PCB, there are about 5 dead Samxon's. 4 of them are 470uf 25V and the other is a 220uf 25v. The other Samxon's aren't bulging but I'd like to replace them too. There are 6 that aren't bulging...

The main cap is a NCC I think all I can read is KM(M)

I'm still kind of a noob so I'm not sure what exactly to replace them with, I was browsing Digi key but there are a lot of options to pick. Would it just be easier to get them here straight off of Badcaps? I know Samxon can make some good caps but this must be a bad series. They're GF(M).

Also, on the other PCB (where the VGA/DVI is, I'll post pics later) all the caps are Yec, I've heard these caps are pretty terrible, but they all look okay and they are
    220uf, 16V
    47uf, 16V
    10uf, 16V
These seem like they have a pretty simple and easy job though. All the caps Yec and Samxon are rated at 105C

Thanks for any help, I REALLY appreciate it!

I would replace them with the PANASONIC FM series.
    http://search.digikey.com/us/en/cat/...panasonic%20FM

I use them for all my repairs.
Just match the diameter and height, value and voltage.

Budm's comment would be all you need to really consider. Seen as you say your a noob at then I have provided links to the actual caps you need to order.

        CAP ALUM 470UF 25V 20% RADIAL

        CAP ALUM 220UF 25V 20% RADIAL

Not sure what your other caps are as they are not listed but most would change all as they don't always show signs of bulging. The big cap can normally be left.
Fixed so far : 1 Home cinema system, 16 LCD Monitors, 4 LCD TV's

KM(M)? Vent like a "+"? That's Capxon. Rubbish caps, but in the primary it may be okay.

Any of these should do. They're all 5x11mm instead of 6.3x11mm (Capxon KM datasheet) though, so slightly "thinner"

Thank you so much! I'm going to leave the primary CapXon cap...it should be alright, yeah? After the recap I will post picture before and after

                        Hello friends,

I replace a shorted mofset (PU8104), now laptop is starting but no display, stopping at DRAMRST#.
Resistance to ground on PL8104 is around 1-2 ohm, quite low but voltage seems ok 0.995V

Any help would be appreciated it's a nice laptop !

                        Thanks. 😃

                        by double_DD
                        Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Here is a pretty crazy one.

                        Step 1.
Laptop was brought to me as dead not working. Removed everything , cleared everything.
                        Step 2.

Some liquid damage close to the Type - C connector, and the connector even though it was cleaned wasn't charging the battery . Removed the Type-C port, and replaced it. Now the laptop turns on and charges battery. Shows external screen , not internal.
                        Step 3.

Took out the screen and checked it to a secondary Gen 2 i have, screen works like a charm.
                        Step 4.

Lets ,dive into the board. I see the edp cable on the...

after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                        so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.

                        Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
