Re: Samsung 920NW 2 Seconds to Black

New caps arrived today to recap the rest of the Power supply. Plugged it in and woo hoo it worked.

Extremely happy I started to put it all back together again powered it up and its playing games again. Back to black after 2 seconds with the display in the background very faint.

Im going to open it up again.

Tried the CCFL's again and it turns out that one of the 4 is not working.

The return wiring (the thinner guage) can often be frayed or charred, but you can't see it with the silicon ends covering them.

retiredcaps after snapping 2 ccfls yesterday trying to repair them I almost gave up. Giving it one last bash I took the end off and the smaller wire came off in my hand I have spent about an hour trying not to break anything and I have managed to get another wire soldered on the end and it works! only thing I need to do now is join the 2 smaller wire neatly so that they fit back in. Are they ok with insulation take on them?

That is why I only do preharnessed replacements as per

            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...5&postcount=10

Alexanna is the king of these repairs.

I estimate about 50% of the people who try ccfl replacements are successful. Most don't have the patience do it.

Are they ok with insulation take on them?
If you mean insulation tape (not take), I'm sure alexanna uses Kapton tape. I think Toasty recommended silicon caulk at the tips where the solder joint is, but right now I can't find that thread in my bookmarks.

Congratulations! Now you have an idea what it's going to be like to possibly replace the ccfl on the packard bell.

Re: Samsung 920NW 2 Seconds to Black

Good job, but the statement below is confusing:
                    "CCFL's have been tested.

I connected each of the CCFL's into another Power supply and tested them one by one and they all light up and stay on for more than the 2 seconds.

I also tried all 4 CCFL's from another monitor on the Samsung Power supply and they light up only for a split second each time after being turned on."

Re: Samsung 920NW 2 Seconds to Black

Well I learnt alot from repair this one.

When I first tested the CCFL's in another monitor they did work ( The fact it worked must have just been luck, as it was loose every now and again it must have made a connection maybe when the corner had been push a little? ).

So I though thought right I have another monitor with its back off I will try all 4 in the Samsung rather than one at a time and that still went off in 2 seconds ( I didnt verify properly that all 4 CCFL's in this good monitor were not intermittent )

What I should have done is had a loose known working CCFL and tried each socket not all at once.

Lesson learnt here is that its not a check box exercise you really need to check and re check what your doing then have a think before you move on to testing something else. Ohh and always have a at least 1 good CCFL to hand.

Thanks for your patience bubm and everybody else's help and thoughts including retiredcaps who encouraged me not to give up on bad CCFL connections (my Fluke still hasn't arrived!)

Yes, that is the best and easiest. I have one lying around from a botched repair.

www.ccflwarehouse.com - I didn't see any kits for your model. You might have to measure the length and diameter and order them that way. Good luck. ~L-J-7~

Hi all, ive got the same monitor, same problem, 2seconds to black, recapped whole board, no difference, checked resistors and diodes and almost have same values as in this post, also voltages are okay, but ive found two of those little blue caps at inverter side which doesnt show any ohm value no matter on what setting dmm is, and also the two inner ccfls only light halfway then dies

Try plugging the lights into different sockets and see if the problem moves.
Have you any lamps in anything you could try - perhaps make some test lamps
See post by budm and in his signature there is a guide.
Blue caps are almost impossible to test with normal equipment they are usually cheap to buy and if thought bad should just be changed. Again if you have others on the board you could move them round and see if the fault moves.

Ive swopped out one blue cap with another monitors one, no change, and ive tested the 4 sockets each with one test ccfl i have lying around which still works , i have noticed that the bottom socket, the ccfl shines the brightest, then next socket it lights up about halfway, third socketbit lights about three quarters, and last socket lights fully but not as bright as first socket

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                                            Hello,

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

                                            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                                            Hello,
I have my TV model UE50KU6070 which I am trying to repair.
                                            BN41-02528A / BN94-10800C motherboard.
If I disconnect the motherboard from the power board, the backlight works. When the motherboard is connected the backlight works but the screen remains black.
When I plug the TV into the electrical outlet, the standby LED lights up but no reaction to an attempt to start it with the remote control for about 1 minute. During this minute the TV consumes about 20W.
After one minute the consumption drops to 0W and the TV can turn on with the remote control but...

I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...
