HP W2207 no screen no power buzzing!

    Hello

I recently picked up this monitor for cheap and am now trying to get it back up and running. I have spent the last 2 days browsing throught the forums with problem, but have not found anything like it.

When I first turned it on I could see the screen switch from 3 diffrent colorl. It went from Balck to Gray to a lighter gray with lines going through it every .25 inch or so. There was a hum in the back sounding like maybe a mouse??
Today I was going to take some pictures of the screen colors and post them up here but when I plugged it in all I got was the mouse hum coming from it and no power light that I could see.

I took the unit apart thinking I was going to find some bad blown caps, but everything in there looked fine. ( when I had it on, I could not smell anything burning or smoke)

I have hooked it up to the computer with both kinds of cables and could not get it to work. I did a reset and still nothing

    Thanks for the help

    Andy

I guess I have never seen a blown cap. I just checked some pictures and it appears I have a few. What are the chances that is the problem? What kind of caps are recommended on these devices???

    Thanks

I can see at least 2 bulging capacitors in those photos.
The two to the left of U502.
They all look to be Su'scon, which are known to be complete garbage (much like HP in general these days, but that's another story..)

^ yeah, those 2 at least - closer, well focused pics of the boards makes all the difference.

So would I be safe to assume that the caps are my problem??? Should I replace all of them on both boards???

          Thanks

I have this exact same monitor with the same 2 caps bloated. I recapped the monitor back in June 2010 and it is my main monitor. I suspect those 2 caps are dried out due to the heat from the IC mounted on the heatsink.

You should recap all the caps on the power board as they undergo the most stress.

              Thanks for the replys

I was looking on the net for caps and was looking on mouser and they had so many diffrent styles of caps. What do I need?? Axis? Radial? Snap In?? Is mouser a good place to but them?

              Thanks

If you click through my earlier post, there is an example on how to order caps with all the parameters. More specifically

                  Well

I recieved all new caps and replaced them. The monitor is doing the same thing. It flashes from a white to grey to a darker grey and keeps doing this. It switches colors about every second. I have tried diffrent cables and get the same. What would be the next most logical reason for this, and how would I go about testing it????

                  Thanks for your time!!!

                    1) Post a picture of the newly recapped power board.

                    2) Reseat and clean every connection on all the boards including the ones to the top of the panel board. I use isopropyl alcohol.

                    3) Try a factory reset to defaults from the menu.

OK I tried sll of those things, and still have the same result. I did take the pictures of the recaped board.

                        1) Post a picture of the main board.

                        2) Do you have a multimeter? If yes, are you familiar with using it to take DC voltage?

ok I believe this is the main board? It is the only other board in the tv except for the one on the bsck of the screen. Anyways yes I have a multi meter and I can read it.

                            1) Marked in yellow are 3 voltage regulators. Report the DC voltage on each pin. You don't have to measure the fat tab. Report the part number as well. For example,

                            U1
                            part AS1117-33
                            pin 1 = 0.0V
                            pin 2 = 3.31V
                            pin 3 = 4.99V

                            2) In red is the connector to the power supply. Measure each pin and see if all the voltages are stable or fluctuating. Report the voltages in a similar format as above. Make sure to include the legend from the power supply so we know what the expected voltage should be compared to the actual.

                                1) U101 and U102 are good.

                                2) U113 may have failed. If you measured it correctly, pin 2 should have been 3.3V DC.

                                3) Check the dimensions, but this should work

                                http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...28-1-ND/586228

                                4) In #2, I say "may" because there are 2 SMD fuses on the main board (circled in blue). Check both. A good fuse should measure less than 1.0 ohms. If one or both are open, it could affect the readings U113.

                                5) In post #12, I asked you to post a picture of the main board, but neglected to see that you already provided that in post #1. Sorry, my bad.

Probably lack of sleep that day.

OP, was this ever resolved? I've got the same readings on U113 but wondering if you ever replaced it and got it back up & running.

You are probably not going to get a reply.
Start a new thread and take pictures as requested. Don't copy someone else's pictures as your model could be a different revision and be set up differently.
If you have not, do a search for this model and number within the Troubleshooting computer Displays section. Read through all of them. You will probably get your questions answered. If not someone will help you.
Have you ever stopped to think and then forget to start thinking again?

hapollo does your monitor have an usb hub? If yes that 1117 reading can be ok, try to hook a pc on monitor usb port and see if the reading changes.. if 3,3v on center pin appear so you can start to consider (for the few experience i have) to buy another mainboard. I think that if you never see the OSD menu is there a probability that an overvoltage producted by bad caps have corrupted the firmware on main mcu/scaler chip, if you want to spend many nights to find the correct SW to upgrade the firmware maybe someone here can tell you if is an useful try..

                                        Hello everyone :-)

greetings to the US, my name is Matthias and I'm from Germany.

I hope somebody can help me - I've recently bought the HP w2207 monitor and I'm now trying to repair it.

The issue is: It won't turn on. Only the signal LED from power button is blinking.
I disassembled it and replaced all caps from the power board (except the huge cap), but the issue reamins -> Only blinking LED.

I did some measurements with my multimeter & I get fluctuating voltages out of U101 and U102 / U113 has 0 volts.

I used pin 11 from 14-pin connector power board as ground.

I attached pictures from the main and power board.

                                        Many thanks in advance!

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                                          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
