Planar PL2010M-BK -Black screen

Planar PL2010M shows picture for about 1/2 second and goes back Black. Power LED remains green until display cable is connected and signal is presents. Caps are looks fine and tested OK. Voltage on PS tested OK. Thanks for you hints.

Check the fuse and transistors or mosfet in the inverter part of the board

Also would help if you could post a few photo of all of your boards in this monitor

Two seconds to black. Since you have eliminated the caps as a potential cause, the remaining potential causes are a bad transformer, a bad CCFL or wiring to the CCFL, or a bad component in the protection circuitry.

Also I tested all transformers. Result is OK.

Did you try checking fuses F1 and F2 on the inverter board as samX3 suggested?

I have a Hanns G HG281D that is doing roughly the same as yours. It comes on and then it's like the back light goes off and you have to turn it back on again. If you turn it on, the image might say or it might go black again. You seem to have alot more knowledge than me on this...I live in Ohio, would you be interested in looking at this monitor for me? I would be willing to compensate you for your time and would pay for parts. I was able to save my parents Toshiba projection tv due to alot of studying on the internet, but my time is limited. If you do not wish to to that I understand, just thought I would ask? I appreciate you time. Regards, Matt

I know this has been dead for a few years, however, where did you purchase this F2 Fuse at, and what type of tools do you need to replace it?

Ive got the board apart and measured the resistance across the fuse1 and fuse2... fuse one gets a 0 reading (good) and fuse2 gets a 1... so I am fuguring i need to un-soldering and solder a new fuse on...

1 ohm is an uncommon value i think for a fuse, so before spend money on a shipping try the voltage a the valley of the fuse soon after power up and after screen goes black.

It was my understanding that the fuses read open or close, 0 is open good and 1 is closed bad... or vice versa.... there was a guy on youtube explaining it. If the two identical fuses read different one must be bad! i hope

Ok - First is "1" 1 ohm or is it "1" as in off scale or the same as just having th e meter on ohms an probes apart.

ah ok, the same old thing, i have forgot, so i think he has an open fuse.. some testers show if i remember ".1" as open circuit..

I cannot find a fuse with that marking - guessing it is 2a so for TEST purpose you can use any 2a fuse - pico fuse or if you insulate it carefully even an automotive fuse.
If the set then works if you tell us the physical size of the fuse we can suggest one

I also just received a Planar 20" flat panel that would not power up at 1st .
It had 2 bad caps on the board the power supply plugs into .. I replaced them , I get a green Light now , then it goes orange .. I see no flash or attempt to brighten on the screen . Using the standard VGA input .
One of the capacitors on the video board Has some goo burnt to the side of it , I tried to see what its UF and voltage was , but when I tried to rub the burnt stuff off so did the numbers painted to the side.
Any idea where I can find out what the capacitor was ?
Boar number is VL-2001-Rev:1a Use all for goggle search or ya wont see it.

But in its picture the cap has a burnt puddle on the board too . Upper left on the Picture only cap on its side .

Would rather try to replace the Cap then order a used board from China .

Ok - what does the cap connect to maybe one of the voltage regulators? .
get the part number of that and look up the datasheet for clues.
A good close up picture of that area on YOUR board might help.

What is the board part number C??? and measure the physical size height and diameter.

It is a Cap .. I'll get back Sunday with more info . ( my only day/night off work ). ( I work so much during the week , I don't spend much time on the PC )

Sorry for the Late reply .. And Thank you . I did try to find a spec sheet for the board , but no luck yet .. Several other numbers on a sticker on the back .

I can barely make out the UF .. looks like 100 .. only thing I need to figure out is voltage
