Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
You may want to put some UV curable solder mask over that area when the connections are repaired. I usually use it on my iPhone board repairs when i'm running micro jumpers(it keeps everything in place and prevents shorts) but it may work well in this application as well.

Yes, Silver Conductive Glue works.
Pic2 ; It has a short, no problem use needle take out.
Pic 3,4 : ...Works, but TAB IC already damaged................................Only needs 1/4 drop glue to finish the job so buy the best quality Silver Conductive Glue.
Hope! Someone will find out which Silver Conductive Glue is best for our application. My glue looks never will get harden.Last edited by capwizard; 03-27-2017, 09:02 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
A fibre glass pencil, Scratch Brush, I never heard that in my life. Thank you for let me know it is exist.
I always use a razor blade to scratch the PCB which let me feel awkward and dangerous(will need more super glue) and Diamond bit Dremel is hard to control.
The fiberglass brush does a good job at removing coats and cleaning the surface of the material you are working on. I use it to clean PCB tracks prior soldering, it just works great.Last edited by capwizard; 03-23-2017, 01:09 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
I need to find a broken monitor but I accept your mission challenge.
Soldering to the board is easy, I removed the gold with a fibre glass pencil, tinned the tracks and soldered the same 0.15mm wire I used on the plasma.Leave a comment:

That was A marvelous job, OK Your next mission is to fix the TAB attach to the LCD glass screen super fine copper traces...................
One question Please, Who broke that flex TAB copper traces at first place?Last edited by capwizard; 03-23-2017, 12:15 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
I think you're wasting your time with cheap silver glue.
Sand back the flex until it reveals the copper, tin the traces then solder fine wires to it.
Like I did in this thread. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=59062Leave a comment:

diif ; You're right, it took 2 weeks came from China. I can't see any silver inside of it and the color look like soil. If no work I will return it. (Amazon)
So, I reordered this ReFaXi 0.2ML Silver Conductive Glue. pic3Last edited by capwizard; 03-22-2017, 05:33 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
Been a few days since I have been able to get back to this thread, a lot of repairs came through, anyways I have spent quite some time using a microscope and scrap tab connectors, as suspected the tab substrate is substantially thicker one side with a thinner layer on other side. The way I have seen most tab on connectors configured is thin side down with the exposed copper traces bonded to the pcb or the glass panel.
While I have carried out flexi pcb repairs with unrelated electronics these had a wider pitch and tracks. With reference to tab connectors though I did find repeatable results could be obtained from the thinner side of the material with some distortion to the flexi pcb substrate however I had little or no success working from the side you would have to access on an assembled panel. If that makes sense.
I a not sure I would consider this a permanent lasting repair either as the soldering process badly distorts the flexi pcb material which is largely not intended for this kind of process.Last edited by llonen; 03-12-2017, 07:02 PM.Leave a comment:

Capwizard dude .. Why don't you visit a car's electrician , the one who usually repair the heating shields on your glass car .. He might give you what you need

The 3M conductive adhesive 9703 is doubleback tape that has conductive strips going one way. It is not paintLeave a comment:

That's basically conductive paint, keep in mind that there are different qualities.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
The repair you are trying to do is very tough. I also have microscope to do repairs. I have seen damage to jumpers from water that cannot be repaired because the jumper got burnt. Sometimes when the jumper is in good shape you can use:
3M conductive adhesive 970312
I bought some a few years back on ebay. It is a doubleback tape that has little conductive strains in one direction only (everything in the intrack direction).
It is expensive so the guy sells it in smaller pieces.Leave a comment:

you're A genie, I never thought about that, a rear window repair kit, Defroster Repair kit?

ebay : Auto Car Truck Defroster Tab or Grid Repair enough to do 10 or more repairs US $52.95 More expensive!Last edited by capwizard; 03-09-2017, 04:10 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
Just hit the website. The replacement for 16045 is 16062 which in small quantities is 45 bucks and flexible. The epoxy that you said was 276 isn't flexible.
As an alternative you could try a rear window repair kit. I would try it first on some plastic tape and see if it's flexible and stays conductive.Leave a comment:

Re: Help! need to solder the wire to the TAB!
Oh Oor I did not pay attention to it, i'm in a rush.
If you don't mind the watery consistency and the fact that you may not get all that you paid for, go for it.,Although it is very conductive, there are two problems with this particular product
1. It's not very viscous compared with similar products purchased elsewhere. It makes it very difficult not to short out pins on SMD devices.
It's more of a paint than a paste.
2. All the syringes had significant amounts of material already squirted out into the needle covers - see attached picture.
You won't be getting the usable amount that you thought you paid for. They are shipped in a bag, rather than a box, so I assume that the plungers get depressed during shipping and the material squirts out.
I sent a message to the vendor about this but they never replied..
Didn't Work At All:
Its a great idea, but I let it dry for over 24 hours and it never hardened. It comes in nice syringes with additional tips, but they weren't need since the "glue" never hardened, so I could use it over and over if I wanted......Last edited by capwizard; 03-09-2017, 02:00 PM.Leave a comment:

by DannyxGood day folks. Recently, I started doing more and more alarm system installs which involve dealing with a ton of small wires which are part of 4 to 12 core alarm cable. To make my installs as clean and neat as possible, I twist together the individual wires whenever possible to make braids like in the picture. It takes a lot of time and wears on my fingers really quickly, to the point where I actually developed a blister on my index finger from all the twisting. This got me thinking if there's a tool designed to braid small wires like this. I know there is something for twisting together solid...

by emeskayWe have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...1 Photo

by wnlewisOK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.
Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.
This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.
The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.
Where may I find parts... -
by Geeker007Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?
I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.
So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is... - Loading...
