I am going to go and look at a LG oled 55B9PLA television shortly, about the only information I have so far is the set fails to start up and there is two flashes from the power LED. The customer has replaced the power supply board with no changes in sets behaviour, any thoughts please as I rarely work on LG Oled simply because there was not much uptake of this display technology.
Thanking you in advance

Re: Apple MacBook Pro 15" I7" 2.2 Late 2011
Yes well for some reason the OS reports this mac as late 2011 which it is not, already looked into the tantalum capacitor issue in more detail and reached the conclusion that its not the problem. It does rather seem that Chrome appears to be using the hardware acceleration on the discrete GPU when enabled, otherwise it it seems to be using the integrated GPU.
So I have not noticed this problem before, so this leaves the question of whether this is a discrete GPU fail starting, which these macs are well known for,...

Re: Apple MacBook Pro 15" I7" 2.2 Late 2011
Well the OS identifies as late 2011 but there is some confusion on what year this macbook pro is.
So something of an update, I am aware of the bad tantalum cap issue that affects certain mbp's but as above I am not sure if this is one of the machines affected. I can look at the ripple level on the buck converter though and see if this is likely an issue with this machine though.
So concerning developments, I have found that this issue of switching between high performance gpu and intel integrated...

Apple MacBook Pro 15" I7" 2.2 Late 2011
Identifiers: Late 2011 15" - MD318LL/A - MacBookPro8,2 - A1286 - 2563
So I have this strange problem that has cropped up recently, this machine has the AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512mb video ram and the Intel HD Graphics 3000 built in chipset 512mb video ram.
I7 2.2ghz quad core
16gb ddr3 ram
The above GPU chipsets
The machine starts to the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset unless I have any applications open that require the AMD Radeon HD 6750M, everything looks normal there are no graphics artefacts and and machine runs normally. If...

Re: Treadmill Motor Control Board 032669-IF
Well I would say send it to me for investigation but I see your in Canada, so that's not an option, if you not able to put the board back for basic testing other than removal, testing and replacement of suspect components your not going to get very far. If your not able to do this then the only other option is to examine possible components. From extensive experience as I suggested earlier remove yellow goupy stuff, then go through the large semi conductors and switching transistors, capacitors. Relays are a particular weak spot, don't...Last edited by llonen; 10-21-2020, 11:58 AM.

Re: Treadmill Motor Control Board 032669-IF
Well it is almost never the motors, but check those anyway before partial reassembly, this can most easily be accomplished by measuring the dc voltage the motor generates when rotated by hand since they are almost certainly permanent magnet dc motors.
An oscilloscope and function generator will be useful for testing relays once removed from the board, the LED's are mostly status lamps that indicate which motors are active, I believe there is a voltage status led there as well. I would stay away from the logic for now as this...

Re: Treadmill Motor Control Board 032669-IF
I have repaired quite a lot of these over the years for customers and while I have had little success in tracking down service manuals they are generally straightforward enough to repair so long as you think of them as a smps which is essentially what they are with some logic. So in no particular order Bad solder joints, NTC, rectifier pack (usually caused by something else) electrolytic caps (the smaller ones), switching transistors, snubber caps, various relays are a weak spot and that goupy crap plastered around could do with going....

Re: Bosch AL2215CV charger fix
Looking over the component side of the board it is clear tome that there are still numerous bad solder joints.

Re: Genuine supplier of electronic components
Most parts I order for commercial repair services I offer, to be honest come from Ebay, a few trusted suppliers that is. Out of the 1000's of parts ordered only a few end up in the reject bin. I would have no clue to shipping and import into Africa though.

Re: Diagnostic card suggestion?
Then I am not really sure why you would need or want a diagnostic card(s) which represent a considerable downgrade over the test gear you already have. But if they are a must have for you then the one you have listed is cheap enough and probably as good as anything else on the market, buy it, play with it and then realise why they are mostly redundant. If there are any specific repair queries you have then post them up on the forum as these places are an invaluable source of information.
The other thing you might want to add is a logic...Last edited by llonen; 07-07-2020, 11:23 AM.

Re: Diagnostic card suggestion?
You will find a good digital test meter indispensable, perhaps a decent storage scope although most switching frequencies to be found will be outside the range or most test gear. The other thing that will help you a lot is access to service manuals as they will contain information on component layout and test points.

Re: Diagnostic card suggestion?
In my professional work I don't find them particularly useful for diagnosis, but then most of my computer repair work centres around macbooks.

Re: Wifi signal
This was the setup I had when using someone else's wireless network, a D-link AP with detachable antenna arrangement and a small 2.4ghz dish. The AP once configured was sealed up in a box and stuck up the pole with dish, power over Ethernet completed the arrangements. This setup worked flawlessly for a few years until they rolled out ADSL thus rendering the setup redundant.

Re: Yaesu VR5000
Now when you say spray some RF in, are you on about using something like an RF probe but in reverse

Re: Vintage Pace desolder station PPS-100 pump motor bad
I was looking for a replacement pump for the MBT 250, well more specifically the diaphragm overhaul kit, then unable to source that my thoughts turned to a replacement pump / motor assy and found prices for second hand units were not meeting with my approval. In the end was able to source a complete replacement controller at a very cheap price that did meet with my approval lol.

Re: Yaesu VR5000
To date the same thing happens with the main and sub vfo, nothing shows on the S meter.
