    Re: Please Help!!

Well it seems like it is either the power jack or the switch - suggest you resolder both.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Look real close at the power switch then, you should be able to jump the connections at the power switch to see if it will come on.

I hope your buudy did not change any tunning cap setting, trimpot setting, etc.
Do you have owner manual and equipment to make an adjustment?
I see about 6 tuning caps, some pots, some adjustable tuning coils.

No he never touch any of the settings.
is that rf resistor meant to get red hot ?
i warned him not to touch any of them setting on the caps. they are all where the should be.

Nothing should be getting red hot on the board.
Where is that located on the board?

                  What resistor?

I see a transistor and acouple of diodes.

You mean the MOSFET (the 3-leg device)?. If it runs hot that means it not switching, but it stuck in the full on mode.

Can you show us how you have connected the wires up - did you resolder
the connector and switch so it is now wired correctly?
When it is in its case does the Transistor/Mosfet get fastened to a metal bar? or just stand on its own.
When referring to parts please use the board description L3 C15 and so on
and if in doubt mark them on a picture.

If it is 18Watts transmitter, then that MOSFET for the final stage drive should be mounted on the heat sink. Is the antenna OK, no short and proeprly tuned for lowest SWR (Standing Wave Ratio)? I still wonder how you calibrated and tuned this unit.

ive screwed that mosfet to the side of the aluminum case as it should be. but im not getting the power it should be giving. i can just about get the signal upstairs on a fm radio. the transmitter is pll digital display. you tune it by using the up and down buttons as shown in picture.
as i don't know anything about electronics. maybe best to just get another one off ebay.

I cannot see how it is tuned by just pushing the button since there are so many trim caps, coils, potentiometers that have to be maually adjusted by hands.
It must have real big power supply to be able to get that MOSFET REDHOT, it is the biggest load in the whole circuits! I would think the power supply would have shutdown or blow the fuse.
At this point you may be better off getting the new board, and hoefully it is properly tuned and adjusted so it will not take out the MOSFET due to poor SWR.

All them trim caps are soldered to the screws etc. so theres no way of moving them thats all done by the company who make them. its only 12v dc power supply im using. i think there must be a break on the board somewhere. i touched that MOSFET and it was that hot it left a blister on my finger lol. to buy a new board would cost £70 so i might as well just get a new rig for that price.

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
                                      by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

                                      Where may I find parts...

We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...

Vintage fan repair, copper wire question
                                      by technicalspecialist
I currently have a customer's vintage fan on the work bench to repair.
It uses an induction motor with 4 poles. One of the poles is open.
I couldn't find the break so i cut off the original wire.
I have measured the other poles and the resistance is about 28 ohms per pole and I measured the diameter of the wire with my digital calipers and it is 0.35mm in diameter.

I need to work out how much 0.35mm diameter enamelled copper wire i need to order for it to be 28 ohms. I have used this calculator and it says i need 160.35 metres.

                                      The enamelled copper...

Heater element wire type instead of a fuse when troubleshooting a short circuit DIY

I was Ollie today which is a close out / surplus outlet store I do not go in there to often because you find things that you should not be tempted by but that is a another story

I saw a small space heater that used a wire type of heater element which I been looking for a while but not really hard mind you but when I saw this I grabbed it I going to go back tomorrow and buy the last one that is like the one I bought today because I need the heater element and the ceramic insulators and more of heat element wire because this one has two different wattage settings one 1300 watts ( tap...

1070 GPU. DVI port removed, wire in its place, why? Stuck on low clocks too.
                                      by GlenBrim
I got this recently as-is. Gigabyte 1070 video card.

DVI port is removed. I don't know why.
A wire is soldered across two spots where it looks like the DVI port was. I don't know why.

I've read of people simply ripping out DVI ports and the rest of the cards still working fine. Never read anything about soldering a wire in there for some reason.

The card seems to work fine, except it's stuck in low clock speeds. While starting a game or benchmarking, the clocks may momentarily increase to around where they should be, then goes way back down and stays...
