    New Pomona Test Leads

As discussed in the "What bench meter to buy" thread, I just got a new Fluke bench meter. It came without leads, and I'm not that happy with my Fluke 87 leads, so I bought 2 sets of Pomona 6344 leads.

Wow, these things are great. The plain leads themselves aren't that much different from the Flukes, a bit longer, and they seem a bit more flexible.
But they come with some fine sharp extensions and some 'gator clip extensions, which are super.
The fine sharp extensions are great for probing small connectors and IC pins, they're not quite like in the picture, the insulation goes right up to the tip.
    This is more accurate:

Having decent 'gator clips saves me from using crappy jumper leads that always fall off and don't make good contact.

The standard leads that come with most Fluke multimeters is the TL75. I think they suffice for most users.

Then I got a set of used Ponoma silicone leads and they are definitely my favourite. They don't tangle at all. I also have a set of modular Fluke silicone leads with different tips as well.

PS. Danaher owns both Fluke and Ponoma.

About this subject the pleasure that I have feel with the AC72 Alligator Clip Set,
I have not feel it with any other similar design.
The secret is that the soft boot it is as soft as it needs to be.

How Can I test PWM DM0365R?
        by chth96
        Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

test active pfc power with lamp test
        by khelane
        Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
        Is there a way...

Mats / mods: detected and repaired GPU fault. Cant seem to test after!
        by chronic519
        Hello.

GPU came in, green lines. Spent lots of time using to get the Mats / mods drive working (found on youtube).
Found issue with a RAM block
        Replaced, green lines gone.
Trying to test again, assuming getting the false positive. Originally had over 1K on a single bank. Now getting tosses low between banks.
Used a good card to test and same results low errors 32+.

I am just search for some form of command to do a full test on the GPU.
I just ran the mats command with my good GPU and passed after roughly 40 min.
        The repaired one, ran...

Lg TCon test pins for screen test
        by alltvrepairs
        Hi,
i have a 65 Panasonic TX-65HX710E using vestel 17MB170 main and Lg tcon.

Few drops of water fell probably near COF and have no display. Tried removing tabs but no.part of display present as if tcon fuse open. However 12v is present and tcon can be felt warm enough that supplies are present. Backlight and sound ok.

Anyone knows if this TCon 6870c-0805A has any special test pins for rgb test?

        Appreciate your help....

Help with trying to fix phone that is not charging (Pics inside)
        by SluggerB
I have two TCL A30 phones.

Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.

New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone

My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone....
