    Poorman's T12

Dirt cheap T12 soldering iron more power than TS 100!!!

If TS100 needs 10 sec. to heat-up to 300c, this one only needs 8 sec. depend on what kind power supply you use.

Ac adapter use 31v HP old printer AC adapter, more power than 24v, power cable solder right on the top of tips bit, switch use copper wire, simple and easy , long time usage please wear glove.

PS: this is a prototype, more T12 tips are on the way, will built real one, very good for Pulse user, you use a while then set for long time...

        Re: Poorman's T12

Its fun, I need some practice to use this solder iron. kinda simulate PWM or relay, your fingertip push on and off, you will get used to it in no time. For me is better than TS100.... T12 tips I feel is not very good quality, instead of using cheap clone T12, we should support the original maker Hakko....at lease solder tips...

Here you are! The 3m Scotch Brite sponge is the must to take away the heart especially on this DIY solder iron.

with this solder iron about 10 pushes total, I finished change dLEDs job very quickly, and I dont need to worry about the iron is hot when I have to talk to customer.

                  Re: Poorman's T12

                  UPDATE:
This is the most powerful iron I ever use, 3 sec ready, don't need to over power this iron tip, so I'm gonna change back to common smaller easy to access laptop AC adapter 19v- 23v 2A , is enough for it, because sometime I forgot and keep push the button until the whole tip is red hot.

YES, still work OK, so far, so good, I think this can light up your gas BBQ.

I dont understand this T12 tip, the more red hot it get the more clean the tip is? most tips will get oxidized and can not use anymore?

Finally T12 is no work, the iron tip heating element is open.

PS: The metal sheet was raised at base because I dipped it in the water occasionally.

PS: Poormans T12 No2 , I will let the iron tip air-cool all the time ( no more dip in the coffee).

You should get a motor speed controller and use that on it and you would not have this problem you can get them on eBay and they do not cost very much

I have tried this myself and it work very well but I need to fix the soldiering station controller MOSFET first to get thing really working good

If you want to get one of those motor speed controllers let me know and I will post the link where you can get one

I going to buy one of those iron from that company as well but I am going to use a Ryobi 18v battery pack to power it

On another note but on the same thing

I bought one of these sound bars from Kmart that is closing there doors for $45.00 and I am powering with a Ryobi 18v volt lithium battery pack works very well I ran it for two hours and still had 4 bars of power left

One thing I still net to do is to put in a Polly type fuse in it in case a fault it trips the fuse and dose hurt the the battery pack
