I read that somewhere a few days ago. I havent used Opera in a LONG time, I have version 7.xx installed. I guess I need to download the new one and see how it does. I used Opera a lot until Firefox came out.
they are likely seeing their market share eroded by firefox.
not to mention lots of us block ad servers at the router and via hosts files.
i might just try it now that it doesnt come with annoying advertizing crap.
i hadnt used it also for a long time. the interface looks good on XP i remember it looking crappy. starts up really fast, renders fast. the only problem is that i see on some sites it renders slightly differently to firefox and IE. it is minor though but made me realise i have yet another browser to check my site's compliance against....
The only thing I am not liking is the tab order, on firefox when you closed the right tab it went to the next one left. On Opera it goes all the way back to the first tab.
this weekend i was suprised to see that Opera has proper handing of downloads.
Firefox can be crappy in that respect, if you want to resume a download there can be probs. If you close the browser you will not be able to resume the download. Firefox also seems to handle >2gb downloads strangely, ie it starts to count backwards after that.
Opera on the other hand allows proper resuming of downloads even if you close the browser and start again later. I was quite suprised to see that and did some great downloading with opera this weekend.
Why dont you use a download manager? well i like to see how the free software is doing. If anybody can suggest a free download manager that would be nice. At the moment i am ok with opera though.
