    Firefox is now SATANIC

Now that I have your attention:

In the last few days, it looks like Firefox has changed their software terms so they are now evil and WILL sell your data.

I already use Palemoon for Win7 sometimes. Looks like I'll be switching to librewolf as well, as Youtuber Louis Rossman suggests. Palemoon still supports Win7, but sometimes pages don't work properly. The Google Chrome browser might also still work for Win7.

I will have no choice but to upgrade my Firefox, so that I can copy dozens of tabs into a document or spreadsheet, or go through the history to find some Youtube videos that I want to keep as a bookmark. But yes, I am DEFINITELY going to need to "wind down" my Firefox usage.

I'll have to try Librewolf for Linux. I have been dual-booting since the days of Caldera Linux / Win 3.1, so this will not be a problem. Years ago I used Linux about 99% of the time. Recently I have used Win7 about 99% of the time. Now, it looks like things will be swinging back to Linux. I might take this opportunity to upgrade from Mint 18.3 KDE in the next week or so.

(Honestly, growing up in the 1970s, there were two things you did NOT want to be accused of. Being a communist, and being a satan-worshipper. And calling Firefox "satanic" might be like a toddler "throwing a tantrum", but I don't care. I think the term fits here.)

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

they have sold your data for a very long time, the new license terms are just clarifying it because of a new law in california.
if your on Linux try FALKON.

and learn how to remove google apps and framework (GSF/ GPx) from a locked android phone.

I just thought about this again with the AI news. Why is it that every time Mozilla shoots itself in the foot, people brag about switching from Firefox to Google Chrome? They sound serious, not sarcastic.

There are Firefox forks that I can switch to, but what email clients are available for Windows or Android? Am I expected to use fucking Outlook with ads disguised as unread emails in your inbox or Gmail with its own "opt-in" (even though it's enabled by default) AI?

Also, why is stuff that's enabled by default always falsely labeled as opt-in? It's nothing new. I first noticed it with "telemetry" built into Windows 7 15 years ago.

I also noticed that the "Recommend extensions as you browse" and "Recommend features as you browse" turned themselves on some time after I turned them off. I don't see the AI settings at all, but I do occasionally get an AI pop-up when I hover over a link.

              Win7 Emulation in Linux
              by Hondaman
If I install Win7 in VirtualBox or KVM, will Windows be tied to that exact hardware? Can I take the VM and move it to another machine at some point without having to re-activate Win7?

I bought a replacement board identical to the one Win7 is licensed on. But of course it failed. I have two more identical boards in my basement. Running out of acceptable hardware will not happen for quite a few years, hopefully.

But I am looking forward to that day when I cannot find any hardware, and I have to use emulation. Does anyone have experience with this?

Japanese language -- Win7 or Linux Mint?
              by Hondaman
I ordered a Japanese book, it will never be published in English. A Mr. Fujumoto was a Japanese sushi chef who became a cook for Kim Jong-Il. He was not perceived as a threat to the dictator's power, so he became very close to the dictator. Apparently, the dictator is QUITE hedonistic, with a lot of debauchery. Although he can spend as much as $700,000 per year on alcoholic beverages and this alcohol is NOT actually the highest quality. Also, the dictator has 24 palaces. One of them is as large as TEN YANKEE STADIUMS PUT TOGETHER. Are they all that large?

              Does anyone have experience...

              USB problems?
              by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

I'm posting this in general because it is interesting, but more pointedly to demonstrate one of the few Articles, and Authors, that I have thought was actually GOOD. So many of these garbage Articles that you get from Chrome running on Android are such horseS***. Link bait titles and I skim a few paragraphs and click BACK at the first ad-sense ad. I wonder...

              Age verification
              by Hondaman
California and Colorado are planning some vaguely-worded laws regarding "age verification". People who supply OSes, computers, accounts on computers, whatever, are required to make a bit (or maybe just a couple of bytes) available to "application developers" so applications know the age bracket of the computer user. Under age 13, age 13 to 16, age 16 to 18, and over 18. Brazil has already passed such a law, and rumor has it many countries in Europe are already planning this. Here is the outlook here in the USA:

I hate to admit my age here (59),...
