Re: This stinks! lol
Never had one in any of my PC's....but it always annoyed me to no end to have a PC with the case off if it wasn't being serviced....and it annoyed me more for the IO shield to be missing. Stupid is as stupid does.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: This stinks! lol
I remember the days when ATX first came out, cases came with a few IO shields that covered many motherboards. But ever since serial and parallel ports stopped showing up on motherboards, there's like a unique shield for every board out there, so they stopped supplying shields as they knew they'd be tossed and why bother adding to the cost of the case.
At least VGA can be used with the serial port DB9 cutout, but even VGA is going the way of the dodo on new motherboards, likewise PS2 ports... and who knows where all the USB ports are scattered around the rear plate...
(and still, getting a motherboard worth $1 or less, buying an io shield that costs $10 is hard to stomach!)Last edited by eccerr0r; 02-12-2017, 06:03 PM.Comment

This device came in as no power. It is taking 0a current. I noticed a little liquid damage to the LCD connector and cleaned that off. I have 19v at the input mosfets, and on the opposite side of the board, there are several (diodes?) which all have 19v. There is a cap there which has 19v on one side, but 6.5v on the other - how?
The only other live power rail I have found on the board, is 16V on one of the coils. There doesn't seem to be a 5V or 3.3V present. A couple... -

by gurj1979My Xbox one has stopped taking discs. Sometimes it will trip the power supply and no orange light neither.
If I'm lucky it will randomly take it after about 10 power reboots.
I got a new drive, swapped over the board but same thing.
So I swapped over the motor driver IC, but still same problem.
Is this turning into a motherboard problem rather than the drive or PCB itself ?
Help please. -
by im_tryingHi, thanks for helping.
The motherboard is from a gaming laptop, msi gf65 thin 10ue, 16W21/11S.
For starters, it doesn't power on. I measured a "short" on the second DC-IN mosfet, right around the charging port but I don't know how to find the component that's shorting it.
I already tried checking the mosfet for internal shortage (by desoldering and measuring) but no short. The drain on the motherboard is the one that's shorted, next to the gate (that's not shorted).
The photo below shows this better than words.
Thanks for anyone...1 Photo -
by MaksiojaHi guys,
It's my first post, because till now I found everything on this forum, but I'm little bit stuck now, so I'm asking you for help. It's my first gaming laptop, so I need some advice.
I bought defect MSI GF66 Katana with GTX3060 GPU.
First when I open it - you can easily notice - somebody open it before, but I didn't found any tech working for it, just maybe somebody open it for cleaning.
What I did so far:
Replaced parts:- ALC233 - was exploded
- APL5934C - was exploded
- 2x FDPC5018SG - went shorted when I took out UP1666Q.
- UP9512Q
