I have a Dell 9200 with a win xp coa tag on the top of the case. I dont have a xp disk so i bittorrented an iso intending to install with my genuine serial. However i can't continue the install without entering the pirated serial. Is their a way to change the pirated serial to my genuine serial when the install is finished?

Re: Windows XP question
is it the same version? I use iso'd (untouched) XP OEM disks all the time and it never rejects the OEM (DELL, HP, whatever) sticker as long as they're the same edition
M$ does have a tool that lets you change your key, but I forget the name offhandCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

Re: Windows XP question
Those pirated ISOs are normally XP Pro Corporate edition (as it doesn't need activation). Those won't work with the XP Pro OEM product keys. You need to find an XP OEM disc.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Does that tool allow you to actually use keys interchangeably from OEM to Pro or vice versa? I think not. I think it's just the equivalent of "Change Product Key" in msoobe.exe /a.Comment

Re: Windows XP question
You need the dell edition of the disc... they're the same as regular discs minus not needing a key code (looking for an SLIC key in the BIOS instead). Since all they care about is the correct code in the BIOS, Either the home or pro version of the dell version image will work.
I personally use this one for my dell builds:
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/41825...XP_PRO_SP3.ISO
(I probably should seed it again, sorry!)
As far as I can tell it's clean... no hacks or cracks, so I can post it.sigpic

Re: Windows XP question
AFAIK, it's not that the discs don't need a key, but I think that the key is entered in the "unattended" section of winnt.sif. You can rig those discs to ask for a key (And also get back the windows repair ability for that matter) by removing the unattended section, so I think the difference between the OEM and VLK discs are deeper than that. Either way, that Dell OEM disc you linked will work fine.
After setup, run "c:\windows\system32\oobe\msoobe /a", then pick "I want to telephone", then "Change Product Key", then close it.Comment

Re: Windows XP question
yeah I forgot about that. I've actually used that before. I used the tool once or twice when windows was activated, but MSSE and some components thought it was not. I think it uses a separate activation system that works in special cases
Rat you don't need a dell oem disk. Fuck I can use a HP oem disk on a dell, and put the dell key in during the install (for pro, afterwards for home), it will still work
I do it for custom builds all the timeLast edited by Uranium-235; 06-07-2013, 12:14 AM.Cap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

Re: Windows XP question
I think Retail (and possibly Student's Edition) discs can be modded into OEM too. Just need to copy the disc to HDD, or extract the ISO if it's an ISO file, then edit the setupp.ini file.

Re: Windows XP question
The setupp.ini method will result in the install not accepting any key if you try to convert VLK to OEM or something like that.Comment

by japlyticIn a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.
Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):- BIOS + database update
- Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool
- Previous setup version for Windows 11 installer
- Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
- TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
- Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

by baletakHi,
had T490 with faulty bios chip. Bought chip out of ebay and soldered on. Laptop starts and works however serial numbers of laptop and motherboard do not match.
I have updated laptop model number.
1) I did not find the way to update laptop serial number - I have this one.
2) I dont know where to get my motherboard serial number and how to update it. Is it somewhere physically on the mainboard? How do I update it?
Hope to find someone to help me with this as I am hitting dead end at the moment.
Many thanks
