    foxconn capacitor issue

    hi guys
this is my first post so hello to all,
i have recently purchased a motherboard on ebay which was "new", when i recieved it i noticed that one of the capacitors was knocked to the side, now i sent the pic of it to foxconn and they said return motherboard which will leave me down 50 pound sterling because of postage, more than cost of board.
the capacitor says on it 6I 100 16v, so is this a 100uf 16v capacitor.
also foxconn states on there x38a board that the capacitors are solid so what type do i need to buy and do you know where i can get hold of one.
im sorry for asking so much but i dont have a clue, i can solder which is why i want to replace it but just dont know what to replace capacitor with.
thanks for any help any of you guys/gals can give.
    cheers
    steve

It's a polymer, but I'm not sure which manufacturer. Hopefully not a SACON or similar...

Did the legs of the cap break off? They are just fine if they are just bent.

if it is broken this one should be a match - .98 plus shipping

edit: sorry looks like you are not in US - not sure of source but the part number should still be useful - if you are not in a hurry maybe someone could add one of these to their regular order for you and save some of the shipping?

            hi guys
            thanks for the reply
the leg did not break off it is just bent to one side and it is still attached, i think the leg that goes into the capacitor has pulled out from it a bit, i dont know if it is faulty or not because i dont know how they really work.
it is very firm to the touch and i wrote to foxconn and they said they are not sure if it will be ok or not.
will it do any harm if i test the board.
thanks for the link to the caps for sale, i would buy one in a heartbeat cos they are really cheap apart from the shipping as you say.
so now i dont know what to do, shall i just leave it or get a new one?
            dilema dilema!
thanks for the help and i hope someone can say if it will be ok
            steve.
ps, if the leg is still in the capacitor and just pulled out a bit is it ok?

replace the cap just to be safe. pulled leg=broken seal

don't try testing it, you may get an unresponsive board

and dont buy from them again, they obviously scammed you

                hi there
thanks for good advice, foxconn engineers were onto me today and said just to finish my pc build and boot up the board, they said it wont do any damage and if i do have any problems get back onto them, i dont know if its because of the cap and its position it may not be that important?
i have ordered replacement caps off big pope and if i have any issues i will just replace the cap as he had ones nearly excatly the same as whats on the board already.
thanks for all you guys help this is a very friendly and helpful site.
                cheers

                  no problem :p

have fun and be safe when you recap your board!

Yeah just what i tought, probably just installed that way or a bit bent, it doesnt look 'that' out of position.. happened a lot of time to me, but no big deal, works...

TCL 43s405 4k TV only runs on lower power mode. Sound like a capacitor issue?
                      by link626
I've gone through 2 of these power supply boards.
Same issue on both. If I use TV at full brightness, full power, the screen will start blinking; go black once every 2 seconds.
It was fine for months before exhibiting this issue.

If I lower the brightness, and run it in low power mode, the blinking stops.

Attached photo below is the board.

Do you think this blinking is a capacitor issue?

These are all HEC brand cheapo caps, except the 82uF which is YST brand.
                      I cannot find spec sheets.

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                      by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...

How can I test non-polarized capacitor?
                      by chth96
I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm

And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.
I found catalogue of samwha capacitor(samwha-catalogue_3.pdf file), which is attached to this thread,...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                      by rounin
                      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                      🛠 Original Issue
                      The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
                      by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
                      Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...
