Re: what's that? did i miss something?
I am not sure what you are referring too when you say you missed something.
The picture looks like its of the capacitors near the AGP slot.
The blue cap is an Sanyo OS-CON, I have heard that these capacitors are high quality from other badcaps board members. It looks like a solid polymer capacitor (I could be wrong). No vent marks on top. 820uF, 4V caps are typical for solid polymer caps.
The green caps, I can not see the brand nor the series. Judging by the colour of the cap, it maybe a Teapo, Tayeh, Lelon cap. These are known bad but I am sure there are other capacitors which use a similar colour and are good. For example some series of Sanyo capacitors use the green colour caps, Sanyo make very good low ESR capacitors.Last edited by shadow; 04-11-2009, 11:46 PM.

Re: what's that? did i miss something?
>but WHY?
because ibm usually puts worst components they have, so their stuff lasts few months only, so they can lose all of their money on warranties etc.
that's why they've put such a crappy caps....
hehe...
how can you ask why ibm puts good components on their mobos?
you're surprised ibm is 5-10 years ahead with os-con?
why?
or are asking why is it in that spot?
perhaps they didn't have other types, and they were not bean-counters we expect all are..
any more whys?
<wink>

Re: what's that? did i miss something?
why?
when did chemicon ever produce OS-CONs?
maybe it is a stupid question and i missed something but as far as i remember Sanyo was the first big manufacturer of solid caps and they were called...............OS-CON.

Re: what's that? did i miss something?
didn't replace anything. the rest are Sanyos (probably WG or WX) and the board never had any issues.
sticker says 'MADE IN UK'. uuuh!
i had it folding for a while but the noise was a bit too much for the few points so i gutted the thing for the case.
plus, VRM modules for these only turn up on ebay once in a while."Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." - H.L. Mencken
