    cap size help

I'm new here and have a asrock k7s41gx which has several bad caps, they are 6.3v 1000uf taicon's..
my question is, how do I know what size (measurement) they are? several of them are in tight spaces and a larger diameter will not fit..

    Re: cap size help

All my boards 6.3v 1000uf are 8mm by 12-15mm. Get a kids cheap school ruler. Most have cm/mm on one side.

Please complete some of your profile, click on User CP. This can then enable us to tell what country you live in.

Places to buy: mouser.com and digikey.com. Both sell Nichicon. You will find 1000uF 8mm diameter caps there.

I am still looking for 3300uF 6.3V at 10mm diameter. Most are 12.5mm diameter (reputable brands that is).

I have played more than 20 pieces 8RDA+, Rubycon ZL is not a good choice for this motherboard. I suggest used with MBZ or same grade at least.

Big Pope. That is a very interesting input. I guess a bit late for me. But ZL was the only readily available and the characteristics are way better than the original Teapo caps. Teapo have only just released a new product range SZ that competes very well with ZL and ZLG.

My mother boards are going very well with ZL so will live with that.

            Thanks for your input

Big Pope is right but availability is difficult. HK,China from pcbulb, US from badcaps.net and nowhere else at reasonable price.

Do know why "pcbulb" no stock for Rubycon MBZ and MCZ now?? Haha, it is because my SAMXON GD and GC can provide same grade in Hong Kong market, but more cheaper than "pcbulb" Rubycon.

Now, I am waiting for the member's test report for my SAMXON capacitors here.

Big Pope, what's your experience with the Abit NF7-S motherboard? Every cap on it is Rubycon. It overclocks very well but would your caps push it further? Curious

Yes, i have experience with NF7-S Ver2.0. All are Rubycon MBZ, i know. By this reason, it is no much space to push further. Actaully, i have experience over 100 pcs motherboards in th past.(Socket 7 to P4 and A64)

Do you know DFI LanParty NFII Ultra? NF7-S compare with LanParty NFII Ultra, both are good motherboard, but DFI can overclock FSB 250MHz above with same CPU. I feel DFI LanParty NFII Ultra is better than NF7-S.

Yes, that DFI still is the best NF2 mobo for overclockers. The Abit was considerably less expensive at the time and to my surprise has very good caps across the board. I'm not sure what the DFI has for caps and how well they stand the test of time but I guess the overclockers already have A64's and beating those up now

                                Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.

I'm trying to flash an HP Probook 450 G5 (2XY63EA) BIOS using Arduino.
It's the first time I try this procedure so maybe I'm missing something stupid.

I've been able to unsolder bios chip (Winbond W25Q128JV) and wire it up to Arduino.
I also dumped it succesfully (dump.bin).

Now I'm having a hard time trying to reflash it, because the bios file I downloaded from HP has the wrong size.

I downloaded bios from HP (https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp103...0/sp103710.exe).

                                Physical Electrolytic Cap Size Question
                                by jdczerwin
My question has to do with through-hole Electrolytic Capacitor physical size and finding the correct specification in ordering a replacement.

Example: I'm working on an old video arcade monitor. The parts list calls for two (2) 6800pF, 50V Electrolytic Capacitors (ECap). Based on that specification, you can go to Mouser, DigiKey, etc and get a through-hole ECap at that spec…and get a far smaller one (physical size-wise) than what was on the board.

From my limited knowledge, I understand that size does matter in this application because of the stress that the circuit...

I have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that

I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now
