Re: Help me
The KZE's are not original but the original caps were in the same location. There is actually nothing below them just a few near by resistors, the originals were leaking hence the replacements.
I know the unit uses at least 24V AC where the power is distributed is beyond me. I will check out all the suggestions thanks for the assist....

As promised here is the pic of the entire board
jsog the caps have no other markings except for what I have already posted and the temperature rating which is -40+105 C. I checked each one and nada...

Re: Help me
PCBONEZ and jsog
Thanks for the info. I will try to get a full shot of the circuit board but I'm at work at the moment.
The item in question is a touch screen thermostat, sorry PC you guessed wrong. Two of the five caps are side by side and in a cramped spot so a 8mm will not even fit but the others have a little wiggle room.. Stay tuned for the pics when I get home in the morning.

Re: Help me
I thought when replacing a electrolytic with a polymers that the specs would have to be different on the polymer? also this is not for a motherboard so would a polymer even work?...

Would a surface mount cap work if I can get it soldered in place?

Yes I'm in FL. Digikey and Mouser have noting in that size (dimension) I will check the other links you provided. Thanks...

Help me
I need to locate 6.3v 470uf caps in a 6.3x8mm max 10mm size. The best I could find so far is on ebay Can anyone point me to a better source.I need to locate 6.3v 470uf caps in a 6.3x8mm max 10mm size. Are these bad or just installed poorly installed.
I'm speaking of the small black Ketuo 6.3v 470uf caps. this small thermostat has 5 of them
and they are all slightly leaning. The larger caps in the background were just replaced due to leakage.
On another note I'm having a hard time tracking down ones of the same physical size to
replace them with just in case they are failing. I checked digikey and Mouser with no luck.
They seem to be around 6mm in width and 8mm tall but due to the confined space I think
10 mm is the tallest that will fit.
The closest I have found...Last edited by v b chil-n; 08-16-2011, 01:12 PM.

Re: Poly Brands
Yes I know that is why I said I could not locate the part # for the UCC to make a direct comparison. He is going on the half capacitance rule with a high ripple current and low ESR. I just noticed that the UCC are PSC series so the specs on the Nichicons seem a bit better, 6.3A ripple vs 6.1A for the UCC and 5.0 mOhm vs 7.0 mOhm for the ESR all other specs are the same....

Re: Poly Brands
Thanks, I only ask because Nichicon has 6 different series listed on digikey and I didn't see a part # for the UCC on Badcaps for a direct comparison.

Poly Brands
I'm looking at ordering some caps from Digi-key for a busted thermostat and offered to get some poly's for a friend of mine. Are the nichicon poly caps as good as the United chemi cons offered here? He was planning on getting these RE50E821MDN1 to replace 11 rubycon MCZ 6.3v 1800uf.I'm looking at ordering some caps from Digi-key for a busted thermostat and offered to get some poly's for a friend of mine. Re: Xunda caps, what is a good replacement
Thank you for the recommendation, I have narrowed my choice to Panasonic EEU-FM1H331L and the Chemi-Con EKZE500ELL331MJ25S. which of the two is the better cap?...

Xunda caps, what is a good replacement
specs are
Xunda TM series 330uf 50v 10x20mm ripple current 1460mA @105 deg impedance 0.050.
I'm thinking of digikey mouser as a source so far digikey is my preference.
