First I replaced the backlights. Then I found three bulging capacitors, one leaking, on the power supply board. Now, when I turn on the tv, the picture flashes with an image and then the picture goes away. I can unplug the tv and plug it back in, turn it on and the same thing happens. Please help. Thanks!

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
After the backlights are on and flashing for a short time, they go out. I can unplug the power cord and plug it back in and it will do the same thing.Comment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
Check your soldering work on the psu,
If it’s a vestel base unit check where the back lights plug in they’re called fingers just wet them with a tiny amount of solder and plug the strips back in hope this makes senseComment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
I checked the solder at the backlight plugs and they are fine. I disassembled the tv again and checked the backlights again. Removed everything down to the backlights, plugged in the tv and the backlights will flash once and go out. I tried another set of good backlights and they wouldn't even come on at all. So at this point I believe the problem is the power supply board. As I mentioned earlier, I replaced some bulging caps but apparently there's something else wrong with it. Sorry for the delay in responding but I haven't had the time to mess with the tv. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!Comment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
You're probably right. This board has vent capacitors with no value listed on them. How can I determine the value of these capacitors?Comment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
The capacitors I replaced had the value printed on them. Only the vent caps don't have a value.Comment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
get out the hairdryer and heat all those caps, then see if the tv stays on longer, if it does you can narrow down the culprit with more selective heating.Comment

Re: JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
I actually found a power supply board at a good price. I received the board yesterday and that fixed the problem. Thank you to all of you for the help!Comment

by DXseekerMOSo here we go with another screen short TCL. For this exercise left and right will be reference looking at the screen.
The person I got this TV from said the color was bad in a vertical fashion about 1/4 of the way over the left side of the screen. Shortly after the symptoms below started.
Power Supply, main and T-CON board are working.
Symptoms: The TV has backlights but no picture with both FFC's attached to the T-CON and does not respond to the remote or buttons, and the TV appears to continuously re-boot.
Unhook FFC from left side... -
by STKR123As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.
As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.
There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,... -

by rddubeHello everyone,
Thought I'd share this find for the repair of an LG tv which had started to turn on but would only get flashing backlights. Backlights would flash at a few second intervals, and when I opened it, noticed that only the 3 bottom rows were flashing, the 2 top rows were completely dead. Replaced a few burnt leds (tested with my led tester), put everything back together, tested all led strips and they were all good, but again the 3 bottom rows would go into this flashing cycle.

by stingerWhen I turn tv on, the backlights come on but there is no sound or picture. I have read that these tv's have problems with the panels going bad but the "no sound" has me questioning if the main board is bad. Is there a way to troubleshoot the main board to determine if that is the problem?
