LG 50lb6100 flashing backlights unsusual fix!

    Hello everyone,

Thought I'd share this find for the repair of an LG tv which had started to turn on but would only get flashing backlights. Backlights would flash at a few second intervals, and when I opened it, noticed that only the 3 bottom rows were flashing, the 2 top rows were completely dead. Replaced a few burnt leds (tested with my led tester), put everything back together, tested all led strips and they were all good, but again the 3 bottom rows would go into this flashing cycle.

Read all the discussions on the web and on Badcaps (wonderful forum!!) and most would conclude that the problem needed a new set of led strips (some others would say the power supply, but most it was the led strips).

After testing and checking the power supply component by component and testing every led strip (by the way all leds were good, and my voltages were also good), decided to order new led strips.

Well I came across a youtube video by CuriousITech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfHPKs4UFfc where the guy shows that the real problem was with the connectors on the led strips, and just soldered them as shown in the photos, problem solved!

I now have a set of led strips coming in the mail, so if anyone needs a set, I would gladly sell them cheap + shipping.

Hope this helps someone! Stay safe and no war please!!

Nice post. Keep the leds strips for yourself as they will fail soon or later!

On the LB/LF series those heavy lenses tend to drop off as well leaving bright spots. Yes keep the strips since that may also happen and tough to glue back since the alignment has to be perfect. On this series, the backlights flash with backlight issues instead of shutting down unless there is an open circuit in the string.

There are 2 sets of strips connected in series. If one of them is open, the second one will flash.
These LEDs and lenses are wearing out badly, installing new strips is a way to go.

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
          by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

Philips Pus 436401/12 flashing backlights question
          by KevM
hi had loads of help from this forum getting TVs back up and running but seem to be hitting a brick wall with this one.
Backlights failed before Xmas so ordered a new set and after replacing them and putting the set back together was delighted to see it work for 15 seconds only for the picture to flash on and off and a quick look round the back confirmed the backlights were flashing on and off

I have a steady 44v at +vled and a fluctuating 0v to 10v at -vled when the light start flashing, a steady Bl-on voltage and steady dim voltage.
If i disconnect 2 strings of leds...

Panasonic TX-55CX400B backlights flashing on and off
          by Bloopeta
Hi peeps, have a Panasonic TX-55CX400B here, guy I got it from said he tried to turn it on other day, and no backlights.

When I received it last night, I plugged it in, and it came straight on and appeared to be working fine, so knowing this would only be temporary, I left it running for a good few hours, and they eventually went off. I tried turning it off and back on again, and this time the backlights started flashing at a steady continuous pace. So I turned it off and left it overnight as it was getting late.
This morning when I turned it on, same problem, backlights...

LED problem on samsung UE55F6475, 2 strips work. The rest is flashing every second.
          by Kingfreddie
          Ok.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.

This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

          JVC lt-42em73 Flashing Backlights
          by JunkmanJimbo
First I replaced the backlights. Then I found three bulging capacitors, one leaking, on the power supply board. Now, when I turn on the tv, the picture flashes with an image and then the picture goes away. I can unplug the tv and plug it back in, turn it on and the same thing happens. Please help. Thanks!
