Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
OMG. Didn't know this thread came back. Well last time I posted, no one said anything for a long time so I stopped coming back here. Looks like a lot more good info. Well my board is still in the same situation. Seems no one has been able to fix this chirping issue. Looks mostly like you guys have been trying to do this external power mod instead of fixing the real issue. I recived another power supply that was suppose to work, but when it is put in nothing happends. The red power light on the power button is flickering rapidly. Doesn't power on. Also this board doesn't chirp. I've swapped parts back and forth on each board, but they both get the same results. Not sure what to do now except keep changing parts.Comment

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
Working on the same case. Just opened the tv and the caps on psu were buldging. Same values as the ones posted in first thread. Once caps A,B,C, and D come in, I'll solder them in and see results. The tv is now doing that chirping sound with no screen. I've fixed quit a few things in my time. Hopefully I'll add this on to the list.
By the way, I think someone either shipped you the wrong replacement board or a non working board. You may be injecting another problem altogether into the set. Board swapping is ok as long as you know the other board works. The strong-minded rise to the challenge of their goals, the weak-minded BECOME HATERS

Other than that, clear, well-focused pictures of your boards would be helpful. Sure we already do have pictures and a schematic from other members, but sometimes there may be slight differences in the PSUs.Comment

If I am looking for burn marks or some disfigured component, I dont see how nuclear's pics are gonna help me. That is, of course, unless Trixter bought the set from nuclear. Each person should post pics of their TV due to the many different revisions of each board, or tv.

Will do. The replacement PSU I bought last year has already blown it's caps. The same Capxon caps as the original. When I get around to replacing it, I'll come back with pics.
It's pretty funny, last year when I started this thread, there was little info to be found on this "lemon" TV. Now, just this site alone has numerous posts about it's problems. Get the word out to friends and relatives to NOT buy this TV.Comment

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
I'm experiencing the same issue with my 42" and ordered the 4 caps that were needed. (3 of the original caps were bulged) Reassembled the unit and plugged it in. Red light came on solid.....flashed a few times and then just remained solid red and would not turn on any further. After dis-assembling again, found that the one 2200 cap had bulged already. Do these caps have a polarity that determines which direction they need to be installed? I should have payed attention better during install but it was family game night and my kids were telling me it's my turn.
Thanks!Comment

OOPS!!! Replace all of them again and pay attention to the markings on the board underneath. Sometimes it will be a circle with one half of it bolder than the other half indicating the negative side. Sometimes they will just print a negative sign on the board itself. The strong-minded rise to the challenge of their goals, the weak-minded BECOME HATERS

Happy New Years!!
I have been reading all the post and I also have this Television. When i plug in the power cord the red light blinks 6 times. When i opened up the cover everything looked fine. I did not see any burn marks or bulging caps.
This is the Board i have at.

I am considering replacing the caps, but since they don't look like they are bulging should I?
Thank youComment

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
Happy new year M1SCH1EFMAYHEM
To quote a regular here (retiredcaps) :
Capacitors (C designation on the PCB board) die from age, heat, and shoddy build quality. Capacitors DO NOT have to be visibly bloated in order to bad. They can be out of tolerance uF (a 1000uF measures 20uF) and/or have high ESR (ohm). A multimeter will be insufficient to test for ESR. For that you need an ESR tester which costs between $50 and $300.
Attach the photo with the "manage attachments" button which is below the submit reply button in the "Additional Options" box
If you have the facilities for measuring ESR and are confident in doing so, then by all means go ahead and check the caps.
Otherwise, post the photo and someone will be along to point you in the right direction

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
Hi folks I am brand new to this forum and what brought me here is an issue with my 42 inch lcd phillips tv, 42PFL5432D/37 picture is out and it makes chirping sounds, i briefly looked at a few posts on this thread, and from what I gather it could be as simple as replacing some caps. I am wondering if it is as simple as that, or am I wasting my time, as I am about to start taking the tv apart. I would like to take a shot a fixing this tv myself any help or feedback would be appreciatedComment

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
Thank you for this thread. My Philips 42" (42PFL5432D/37) would shut off into standby (red power button) after a few seconds. I recapped the power supply with the 3 1500uf and 1 2200uf cap from Mouser and it's up and working again! It appeared that only the 2200uf cap was bulged but all have been replaced with the Panasonic caps.
The caps used were as follows.
1500uf Panasonic PN: EEU-FM1V152L
2200uf Panasonic PN: EEU-FM1C222
Hope this helps out the next guy.Comment

Re: Magnavox LCD 47MF437B/37 Bad PSU
http://www.wadictatv.com/Magnavox%20...715T2454-2.jpg = Open up in separate window and compare:
The magnavox 47MF437B/37 uses the same power supply as the above Philips unit, or, they share the same TRANSFORMER #80TL37T912 LS. Which is "chirping." Here is my problem. And here is my question.
= Should I salvage a duplicate transformer off another unit of same value and replace this one that is chirping? Seems to be the last resort, short of buying another PSU at $75.00 +++
MAGNAVOX 47" LCD Model 47MF437B/37
POWER SUPPLY: 715T2454-2
A. Transistor? P7Nk80ZFP works fine
B. Transformer: 80TL37T912 LS = "chirping" Noise.
At one time worked fine: NOT REPLACED YET
C. 1500uF 35v replaced
D. 2200 uF 35v replaced
E. double diode / checked = good
F. 2200uF 16v replaced with same at 35v
G. 47uF 25v replaced with 50v
Sold and worked fine, until it went dead.
Customer says it did this:
1. Work fine until one day:
2. Turned on workeds until turned off, then when turn back on, would not come on.
3. Next day turned on fine, the worked a bit, shut off.
4. rest cool off. Later turned on, worked the n shut off.
5. Finally would not turn on. When he would try, it would start and begin makiing the chirping noise and eventually stopped turning on.
6. He heard small "chirping" inside next to power supply. I used small very long 12" metal screw driver with plastic handle as old time hear-in-aid up to ear. YEP, transformer was the loudest chirping componant.
I opened it up. Found bulging "F" capacitor. replaced it with 2200uF 35v.
Replaced and pluged in and still same chirping.
Replaced "G" cap, -= same chirping.
CHIRPING comes from "B" Transformer.
So, I figure it is a bad Transformer?
ANYONME have any idea?

Re: Philips LCD 42PFL5432D/37 - Bad PSU
zd906 is right by that transformer and which 47uf did you replace or did you replace both of them? c958 is also by that transformer.Comment

by G33RTPhilips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.
It does power up when pressing the power button.
I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.
Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ? -
by Ifixstuff9I have a Philips TV that shows no signs of life when plugged in - no standby LED, no response to buttons, no noises, nothing. This model is well known for having bad caps, so I started by replacing a few of them (3x 35v 1500uf and 1x 2200uf 16v). I don't know the history of the TV but it looks like someone's been at it before because some of the solder joints looked really bad, so I re soldered them as well.
After swapping the caps I still got no signs of life so I started checking voltages, and found that the board is supplying 24v but not 12v. Here's what I measured on the connector... -
by aidanmoHello,
I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.- Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
- Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
- Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar

by CornitoHello Team,
New issue on LCD panel where I need to find out the cause and the potential solution.
This is on the Philips 50PUH6400, the LCD panel is an INNOLUX V500dk2 xrs1.
I have image, on the right side, the image is more or less normal even if there is a small blur on edge, on the left there is an issue.
When moving up and down in the menu on the right the image is slow to disappear, and is darker, like red/brown.
I've checked voltages, no issue found comparing right and left side of the panel driver.

by spantorHello partners.
Could someone tell me how to make this Philips TV source work without the mainboard being connected? The model of the board is EAX65423701 (2.1) and the model of the Philips TV is 40PFH40009/88.
The TV is dead, there is no standby light, however there is a voltage of 12v on the pins ( included 12v VAU ) and 3.2v on the PS-ON pin (see photo) when the power board is connected to the main board. If I disconnect both boards I only get 8 volts on 12v pins. I would like to rule out a fault in the main board by making it work, but so far no one has been able to tell... - Loading...
