Nice work, do you still have short on caps?Comment

Re: Westinghouse WD55UDR101 bad picture goes black after a few minutes
Now as for the capacitors, here is what I got.
Caps highlighted in Red tested 146-147ohms one way and 67 ohms the other.
Yellow tested 2280 ohms both ways.
Orange tested 418 ohms and 617 ohms.
Purple which I removed and tested showed open circuit on diode test and resistance climbs until the meter (2000 counts) maxes out.
The two caps highlighted in blue in the second pic only show .03v when I had the tv running before I removed the capacitor. The others were all showing 0.25v.Last edited by MikeRWK; 02-05-2021, 04:58 PM.Comment

I forgot to mention when the tv was working voltage on those caps in the first pic was around 1.12v if I remember correctly and it would read 1.06v when the picture would go out.Comment

Test the one you took off in diode mode, does it beep with the probes on both ends? and check the others the same way.Comment

Ok, check the rest on the board for any more shorted if none maybe replace that one and see if tv works, I see some on youtube just get another same type ceramic cap that's the same physical size from a scrap board to use, shouldn't hurt to try the tv with the one cap off just to see if you get a different result than you were getting.Last edited by nomoresonys; 02-05-2021, 05:39 PM.Comment

Ok, guess that IC got screwed up with all that solder.Comment

IT'S ALIVE!!!! I put some flux on the ic and ran my iron across it a few times and I must have still had a short because I it fired up and the tcon ghosted for a second (negatively charged caps from the short?) and it's been working fine for the last 10 minutes or so.Last edited by MikeRWK; 02-06-2021, 06:41 PM.Comment

Nice, glad to hear it, so where that solder blob came from is a complete mystery then?Comment

No looking back at the first pic I posted of the tcon it wasn't there. That was 100% me,, not sure at what point I did it but I think the tv had two problems, the first which was the shitty power cables and the second which I caused.Comment

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by kerberos137Hopefully someone can help me out. This tv was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. At some point, the TV just faded to black, but sound continued playing. It almost looked like smoke on the screen as it faded from the bottom left corner toward the top right. Took only a second or less, but wasn't instant. After restarting, it turned back on and worked fine for another day or two. Then it happened again more or less the same way, but in a slightly different direction, again with sound continuing. I thought it was working fine after another restart, but looked a bit dimmer than before. Then...

by S14Sr20detTrash picked this tv from a local business, had a garbage image and would fade to black within second then cut off. It would get shorter and shorter every time.
Narrowed it down to the right side of the panel by unplugging half the t con
One side had a great picture the other was black and distorted still.
Down to the buffer boards… found yet another set of two esd diode arrays. One leg had a 60 ohm short to ground and would get lower the more attempts made to turn the tv on.
Soldering iron and some chip quick knocked both of them off and...06-17-2023, 02:55 PM -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by EazyBoneOn this TV I got black screen with with picture.
Tested the LEDs and they work.
Had a hunch that this was similar to a ONN tv thread I found and wanted to post about this to possibly help someone else.
The capacitor by the LEDs is bulging, 450v 10 uf. I suspect this is the cause. Will post results after replacing the capacitor. You could just replace power board as well I assume.
