Does this seem like a gamma problem to you? Philips 42PFL3512D/12

    Hello!

I have already fixed some TVs in the past years, but now I am planning to buy another faulty unit for cheap. However, checking the pictures that the seller made, I can't decide if it's a Gamma problem or not.

I'm open to learn new thingies, but I don't wanna waste too much money if it's not repairable.

The seller sent me the 3 attached pics.

    What do you think?

Looks like an AS15F IC issue to me ! That is located on the T-con

Yes, I have fixed that kinda problems too recently, but this color distortion seemed a bit different from what I saw before. I wasn't sure.

But if more people agree on the AS15/AS19 chip, I will buy it and give it a try.

Well.. i have to buy the TV first and wait for it to arrive.
If I buy it in the first place ofc.

I'm just not sure if that will be the problem, thats the reason I made this thread.

Is it worth an expensive transport for a very old tv? Yes it is surely gamma problem, as15 if i remember. I have fixed the as15 on the 37" version. I remeber that was not a good bargain because it had channel memorization problem that needed too much expensive Philips service update, and it had no LCN organization.

Well, I am not buying it to use it, just to fix and then sell it. It's what I am doing nowadays to gain some extra money and practice before I get a job.

These kinda TVs in my country are listed (and sold) for ~$100 when working.
The bad unit is sold for ~$30, and I have an AS15 chip at home.

So if I can make ~$70 profit, I am more than happy.

This is the same profit I usually make after fixing then selling LED TVs with bad backlight.

Anyways, I will most likely buy it, if you all say it seems to be a bad gamma chip, I have too much free time, and every penny profit is good.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, that the shipping is free (counted in the price to be more exact).

The other problems can ofc be annoying, I will definitely think about it again tomorrow.

I would give it a shot, it looks like typical bad gamma chip, try freeze test as suggested. Philips are good tvs, I have one and it's every bit as good picture as a sony or sammy.

                      Hi

I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
Somewhere on the way the error got worse, because at the moment the...

Philips HTS8000 home cinema noise problem
                      by courtcircuit
                      Hello

I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board
                      Removed each of tyhe boards
                      ...

                      by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                      1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                      2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                      3. Problem: TV shuts down

Philips 58PUS8545 t-con problem or something else ?
                      by atkallu
                      Hello
I have a Philips 58PUS8545 which have a vertical moving lines on screen and it is flashing white vertical lines like a every 3-4 seconds.
                      See the attached image.

I removed left side flex-cable from the t-con and then there was half screen sharp and correct image and other half was white.
But when I removed the right side flex-cable then half of the screen was white but other half was white and above the white there was vertical lines on half of the screen.

T-con two flex-cables have been changed to cross but nothing changed, so it is not due those...
