tested is "loosely used".. yes, I spot checked continuity and impedance checks on the ICs. Small BJTs are fairly similar.. some read 50M, others read Open.. yet, test again and you get open on both.. so very subtle differences. The only smoking gun thus far is the zener diode and I have one on order.Comment

Re: LG 50UH5530 Turns Off And Wont Turn On: diagnoses included
So transfered the good zener from good board to bad. Now bad board reads 23k across hot opto side. TV powered up for 3 seconds then off. Something else is a problem.
Disconnected LED Connector (to exclude these caps) and no change. I don't think these caps are to blame. Took them off voard, and did ESR and C measurements. No significant difference
What was the number on U1?Last edited by R_J; 05-01-2022, 05:44 PM.Comment

Re: LG 50UH5530 Turns Off And Wont Turn On: diagnoses included
Ordered both the zener and the Opto.. replaced the zener first and that did the trick. TV is up and running. I don't think I need to replace the opto if it's working.
Theory here is maybe I had zener and one/both of the ICs bad.. replacing them all took care of the issue.
Or just "Zener" decided to go bad??
Hope this helps someone fix these expensive boards.
Thanks for the helpComment

so to be clear, it DID NOT work when you transferred the zener to the old board BUT the new zener you ordered did work?Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. I did 2 things.. replace the zener with a new one and touched up all the IC pins. I did see under a microscope that some pins, one in particular, didn't seem to be soldered all that well.Comment

Jason
I am having some issues with my power board also. The information you posted and so diligently troubleshot definitely was beneficial to me. I haven't quite figured it out, but after the last test with the TV is miraculously started working when power on through the remote. So I am going to leave it alone now. I went through with my magnifying glass on solder joints, removed CAPs for value, tested the transistors, checked backlights. All seemed to be working and put it all back together and the TV came up, so I am not sure what fixed it.
Thanks for the information you posted here.Comment

AFVet, I think it must have been a bad solder joint.Quit because THIS SITE LETS A ROGUE MEMBER TYPE ANY GARBAGE HE PLEASES AND THE POWERS THAT BE NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO HE NEVER QUITS. by KingfreddieOk.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.
This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

After letting it sit for a day I plug the battery back up, and the MagSafe 3 cable and it powers on and stays ons, once I plug in a USB C cable into the port closes to the MagSafe port it turns off and the Amber light turns off and won't turn on. No water damage, nothing, I want to do a DFU restore to wipe the computer since the customer stated they did an update and ever since it just decided to not work...

by wwwI am testing an old LG L192WS-BN monitor I have that gives an image, but has a backlight issue. When you turn it on the backlight turns on 1 second and it turns off, turns on again, 1 second and it turns off and stays off. Using a flashlight I can see there's still an image.
I replaced a bulged cap on the main board, but made no difference. I also got another exact same model monitor that has a broken ccfl (the connector got ripped from the panel and the main screen connector is also broken so I can't use this panel to test), tried using the main board from this one, same issue....-

by zklgfsHi,
I have an Anker SoundCore 2 (A3105) that I saved from the trash (well, I guess there's a reason why it was supposed to go into the trash...). The problem is that it always turns off after a few seconds (sometimes it stays on a bit longer, between 30 and 60 seconds, but it still turns off). The power light turns on and the bluetooth light starts blinking, but both abruptly turn off again. The "turn off sound" is still played after the lights turn off. Sometimes, it also loops the on-off cycle several times without me pressing any buttons. If I connect an AUX cable, music...-
