LG L192WS-BN backlight turns off after 1 second

I am testing an old LG L192WS-BN monitor I have that gives an image, but has a backlight issue. When you turn it on the backlight turns on 1 second and it turns off, turns on again, 1 second and it turns off and stays off. Using a flashlight I can see there's still an image.

I replaced a bulged cap on the main board, but made no difference. I also got another exact same model monitor that has a broken ccfl (the connector got ripped from the panel and the main screen connector is also broken so I can't use this panel to test), tried using the main board from this one, same issue.

I tried disconnecting the ccfls one by one and plugin in one from the broken panel, the backlight on both panels turns on but it still has the same issue.

Anything else I could try before I throw it away?

Don't want to give you hope, but I get the exact same thing, so at least it's a common problem?

      Hello www and Vectrex
If the backlight is CCFL technology, there must be a transformer on the board somewhere, that is transforming the voltage for them.
I had a monitor like that that did the same thing. The reason was that some windings were burnt.
Sometimes you can hear a very high pitched noise or whining from these inverters when they are faulty. Sometimes they get very hot.
This picture shows how it could look like. They can look different in your case. The fault will probably be only visible from the bottom as shown in the attached picture below.

I cannot tell with certainty that it will be the issue with yours but you can definitely check those.
When I repaired mine, I bought a LED backlight kit from ebay and turned the CCFL backlight into LED backlight. If the ccfls are gone it is worth it in my opinion.
But since you have backlight and the ccfls seem to be good, then you can replace the transformer. Or do the LED stripe kit conversion anyways. Because then you wont need a transformer of that kind, you will use a small transformer board that will be part of the kit.
