Sony KDL-55HX800 White Screen

Hi guys

I got the above set from a friend with exact same symptoms as Tom.molyn described in another thread.

"The tv would power cycle initially.(no picture or sound)
I was able to get 3.3v on the standby voltage at all times.
The on power and high voltage would be on for the first 2 seconds inbetween "clicks"
I was able to keep the power from cycling when the T-con board was disconnected from the Inverter.

I replaced the LED Driver board as well as the T-CON. When I replaced the LED Driver board, symptoms were still the same.(4 x flashes, no display, clicking sound) When I replaced the T-CON, the set now comes on with white screen, I can see the set tries to respond to the remote, but no display. If I remove one of the TABS from the T-CON to the Panel, both sides come on as white, although one side is whiter than the other side. I also replaced the BAL board, with no luck.

I do have sound, backlights and a white screen.

DO you think I got a bad T-CON board from my supplier?

It is possible that you may have an incorrect Tcon.
Post pictures of the original and the replacement Tcon clearly showing any labelling or part numbers so a comparison can be made.

Please find herewith the photos as requested. When I looked for the T-CON, this set seems to use two different T-CON's a LJ94-0349E and/or a LJ94-03495E. I could get the LJ94-03494E, as depicted in the photos.

Budm, the pictures of the white-screen with the division in the middle is when I remove one of the T-Con to panel tabs, and the clean white is of the picture I get with all tabs connected. The pictures with the weird circles are probably a fault with my camera. In all the pictures the display is crisp and clean "White". Even with all tabs connected the display is an even crisp white screen.

I taped down the tabs going to the backlights after reading the thread from Tom.molyn(tape in black right corner of LED Driver)

The two boards do look identical. Have you checked you have voltage on both sides of the fuses.

The white screen tells that 12v is present on the load side of tcon fuse, i guess, but something is wrong on the tcon because it has not all the tensions, that huge beasts of tcon appears to be very expensive, i think that your original tcon was not really faulty, but i guess for some strange and unpleasant reason the LD board tells the tcon that he has a fault and tcon sets a fault bit in its memory, so i strongly suggest to find the smaller eprom on the new board and save it because if it goes again into protection the reversing is sometime impossible otherwise, or buying a new tcon. The white screen is maybe due to screen defect (less probably) or error flag stored in BAL board, do you have changed it before or after LD+Tcon boards? One way to commonly reset an error flag in the Sony is to make an update procedure by USB.

Thank you for your help. Like Davi.P mentioned I do have 12.51V on the load side of the T-CON fuse.

Davi.P I replaced the LD board first, then the T-CON and then the BAL board. So I hope I didn't carry the problem onto the new BAL board.

I will install the old T-CON again, and see what happens. I will also read up on the update procedure by USB

I don't exactly knows how this works or what happened. I installed the old T-CON again, switched on the TV and it came on with beautiful picture and sound.

1. The T-CON I ordered is faulty
2. The Problem was the BAL board

I hope you can return that defected expensive T-CON board, you will never know what you get when you buy used board.

It's a little bit mistery mechanism again today form me... my guess is: when you installed the replacement tcon it was ok and with the error flag unset so ready to show a picture but the Bal board was with its error flag already set so it does not sent an image to the tcon, a tcon power lit but with no image shows white screen, but in this moment Bal board read the error flag from the tcon and at the next boot it decided to send a picture... so if you try now the repl. tcon what happens?

Thank you for your help in this regard. Sadly I already returned the "faulty" T-CON, but I should have tested it afterwards.

Thanks once again. The TV is working since Monday without problems. You guys are seriously Masters in this.
