I have cleaned the contacts, reconnected, unconnected, pressed, and other but only one side will work if the other side is disconnected before plugin. If both strips are connected from t-con to the inverter board? 50t32-soc xl bd, I get the color lines. My question here is, if I get an ohms meter, what do I do with it, what do I check, where, if I find one that is not pulling proper voltage, what do I do, what do I replace, it is worth it, is something like this issue usually fixable? do I need to separate the plastic ring from the panel to see what the board ribbons are connected to?

You will set the meter to Ohm mode to check the resistance of the SMD MLCC (Multi Layer Ceramic Capacitor) for very low Ohm reading on the section of the bad tab bonding that is not connected to the T-CON.
Most of the time the caps will be connected in parallel so you may have to remove the tested bad cap out until the shorts go away, you will need Hot air station, and good soldering iron to do proper works without damaging the boards.
Is it worth it? That is up to you. I fixed many and it is great learning experience for me.
You need to disassemble the LCD panel to get good access to the tab bonding board, 50" screen is big screen and can easily be damaged.

that first picture don't look so good... :-( if that is on the same side as your vertical lines, that is likely your problem. the tab appears to have been compromised.

Looking at Post 10, 12 and 25... it appears to be the same side.

If you are referring to the ribbons, they are all secure, it's reflection.

Well could try the "cutoff tape" method, might work who knows, sometimes you have to play with the size of the tape and placement to get it just right, example there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TT8QYeN1s8

OK..... you need to look at the other side of the panel where the tab ribbons are attached to the panel to see if there are any issues there.

As suggested, you should also do some component checks of the SMD's on the edge board of the side that does not work.

Hi,

I found the same TV model with the same problem - vertical colored lines on the black screen.
I replaced the board labelled as "CTRL BD" - it didn't change anything.

When I disable the ribbons one by one - one half of the screen become dark (black/grey). No TV signal source attached during the tests.

Does it the panel itself is dead? Or it worth to try the other tests suggested in this thread?

i tried to watch the video but its so shaky and the guy doesnt explain well. i did see him put a piece of tape on the ribbon cable from the tcon to the MB...what is the theory here? why would that work at all?
