Replace Backlight 6V LED with a resistor, diode or jumperwire

Can i replace my TV Backlight led 6v with a resistor, diode or jumperwire or 2 3V led in parallel?

if yes what kind of values do i need to know and calculate?

Yes i know, I might get a dark spot on my tv.

6v 1000pc leds got lost during shippment another week for the next shipment. Tv is mine, i need it of the bench.

    Cheers, Dan

Re: Replace Backlight 6V LED with a resistor, diode or jumperwire

You need to use diodes in series so the Vf will be about 6V, The vdrops of the resistor will always change with the amount of current flow through the LED string. The current value is set by the BACKLIGHTS level so if you know that you are not going to change the backlights level then you can measure the current through the LED string then you can calculate the value of the resistor based on known current and the Vdrops (which is about 6V); you can also calculate the Wattage of the resistor and multiply that by 2 for safety margin.

Re: Replace Backlight 6V LED with a resistor, diode or jumperwire

For just one LED bypass it with jumperwire.
Or better to avoid dark spot with 3V led, same package, same current.
+ or - 6V or 3V in second case will not trigger over or under voltage protection.
And so current will be the same as initial even is just by example 33 OK leds or just 32 leds OK and one shorted by jumper or 32 leds at 6V and one at 3V

This may be fine for one or two or even three leds but as number increase over/under voltage (depends for driver IC) may trigger and result is no backlight.

For those who disapprove that, just try this, short one led and see result while measuring stripe current, driver will adapt and current will be the same value.

        sorry but you are wrong
shorting one led will trigger shutdown in most cases
Panasonic edge lit , one diode led shorted all others ok , TV shuts down
They measure voltage for the shutdown
But to the OP short out the led turn on TV without panel attached and see

Is it okay to replace 1/2 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor in AC/DC adapter?
          by chth96
I have purchased an 100-240v AC/5v 2a DC adaptor from aliexpress, and a month ago It smelled burning when I plugin it powerstrip.
Since then, This AC/DC adaptor have been out of order.
But A few days ago,I replace 0.5 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor(1ohm) in this adapter.
After replacing resistor,It succeed to recharge all of android phone. And When I measure voltage on the two pins of USB port,It shows 5.5v

          Lost Diode/Resistor RP802 MacBook Pro 2020 A2338 HELP
          by XxMicroSoldering
Hello Guys. Yesterday I was repairing a MacBook with no backlight. I noticed the resistor/diode RP802 is bad so I took it off. I also had a faulty motherboard that can't be repaired that had that resistor/diode on it (RP802). So it took the good RP802 off the faulty board. And when I had it on my tweezers it accidentally flew away. And now I don't know what to do. I 100% can't find it because of how small it is. Do you guys know any other diode/resistor that can work as the RP802

I'm a newbie to microsoldering and I'm still learning. All help is really appreciated

Which resistor should I remove/replace to decrease current to backlight leds?
          by unimatrix93
Dear community, I want to increase the lifespan of my backlight led in my TV by decreasing the current.

However I need some help identifying the resistor I need to replace to achieve this.

          Thank you!

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
          by mikey5791
          Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

Diode in parallel with resistor on battery charger
          by Dannyx
Good day folks. Today I had to work on a power supply/battery charger which had some parts arranged in a manner which intrigued me. It is a proprietary board that's part of an alarm panel and it also acts as a charger for a backup SLA battery. It's a very basic supply, with no proper battery management: have a look at the terminals and you'll immediately see how it works. There's a 14v output and there's a "BAT" output, which basically just ties the battery in parallel to the supply, but not directly, instead through a diode and resistor, as outlined on the doodles I did on the back....
