Visio E5501-B2 no picture or sound

I've been given this set, the left front corner where the IR sensor board should be was broken and that board was missing. Replaced that board today and the LED light on the board lights with the remote, and remains lit. No picture or sound. If the Visio logo is supposed to light, it does not.

Haven't had a chance to pull the back yet--but can some suggest what I should be looking for?

probably an eeprom or a voltage regulator on the main board.

You're a lucky man. It is the Vizio 056.04167.1071 Power Supply Board Cn202 connector has very bad solder joints. Resodler the cn202. Tv 99% will works. I've repaired 8 of them.

BTW, the correct model number is E550I-B2 (not 5501).

Remove the lead free solder and re-solder with leaded solder and it willbe good as new.

Its the connection between the power board and the led driver board. You can wiggle it and see it move.

Attached are pictures of the internals. Don't see a connector with soldered ends.

Do I understand correctly that bridge connector between the two boards was replaced by the wires shown?

well... check em for cracked or cold solder joints on both boards. Just resolder them for now with fresh solder.

The connection is on the back of this area.

I've been offered a couple of these for free in the past, both picture and no sound. If someone offers me a free TV I try to tell them if I think its an easy fix. When I tell them I can generally fix one of these in 30min for $35 they just about soil their britches.

I just sold one of these last weekend for $250.00 and three others for the same amount last year.

And access to the boards is quick and easy. This last one was tossed by my neighbor but someone had broken the corner at the IR board, which I had to replace. I resoldered the connections (thanks again to the board members who made this so simple) and the set went to a good friend. He's my handyman and household fixer who has saved me big money over the years.
