Samsung UE50EH5300 - bad picture, helping to diagnose for a friend

    Dear BC community,
I would like to help a friend to diagnose a faulty TV set trough the internet.
I attach his pictures and a video of the problem. It has 5-10 cm good picture on top, below that point everything is ghosty, seems doubled.
What he has done so far:
-Measured voltages (also on T-Con), everything seems fine.
-Carefully pushed the COF cables, no change.
-Measured all the components on the buffer board (after T-con, before display), nothing is shorted or bad value

    And here comes the video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix8e...ature=youtu.be

    Pictures:

This is the problem, demonstrated with text.

    TV Type

Picture with left T-con cable disconnected

Picture with right T-con cable disconnected

    T-con pcb

I would say defective panel, but to be sure, called for your help.
I haven't told him about the cof ripoff technique yet, will leave it for last resort.

Check for dry joints in the panel board after the t-con.

Guys, thank you for your time and effort.
Next my friend tries to remove the row drivers (if there are any) and we will see.
DIMITRIO: he already checked for cold joints, corrosion.

your pictures don't agree with the words... picture shows left or right disconnected, yet the pictures show the same side white... probably not possible. Re do your test to make sure what you are seeing before going too far with "tab removal".

suggest that you do some checking of the smd devices on the bottom edge boards (ie. capacitors / resistors) as something strange with your pictures.

Yes, I was also skeptic about those 2 pictures, but my friend says he followed my instructions word by word. Told him to redo the test, we will see (or not)

Wait probably I was a bit too quick to say bad panel. Could we see pics of the screen with the LEFT T-CON Bd FFC to Panel/Source Bd disconnected and and RIGHT cable connected and another pic with the RIGHT T-CON Bd FFC to Panel/Source Bd disconnected and LEFT cable connected? Of course you would have an input signal connected on AV or HDMI, etc.

Yes, better pictures are needed, the defect is alreeady said but need to be sure which side has bad gate driver, and tell also if the tcon is at bottom or on top.

Thank you guys, I would love to investigate this further, but my "friend" doesn't respond since yesterday. I can't reach him, and as long as it stays this way, we cannot move forward. Excuse me

                                Hello everybody.
I have an update on the case, but not that we were looking for. My friend gave the set away. But before this, he was able to confirm, this display has no side tabs. Only test he could do is isolating the tcon cables, but he didn't have the time for that. So without end, case closed.

                                          Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                          - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                          - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                          - it keeps rebooting
                                          - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                          - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                          - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                          Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                                          Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
