Idk if I posted this in the correct spot or not but I would like some help or opinion on the value of this resistor? I removed it from a Proscan 55PLED tv power supply suspecting it was bad after some troubleshooting and diagnosis. It connects between one of the FETS and the main capacitor on the hot side of the board. Resistance reading when removed from the board is 0.4 ohms. The issue I am having is that the middle band is silver, and all 5 band resistor charts show no silver as the 3rd band, grey is the only option which would make this a 27.8 ohm resistor. Based on the size of it I would guess it to be 1 or 2 watts. As the picture shows, the middle band is clearly silver. Did they just do this bc a grey band wouldn't show up on a grey background? Or am I reading it all wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am also having no luck in finding an equivalent replacement.

Re: please help identifying resistor?
The resistor is ok. it is 0.27Ω, red=2, vilolet=7, silver is the multplier X0.01 gold = 5% . It is a fusible resistor, If the fet for example shorts, it will cause the resistor to open. The reason it reads .4 Ω is partly due to your meter leads resistanceLast edited by R_J; 06-30-2018, 11:31 AM. -

Great thank you I will reinstall it on the board. Just curious as to what the green band means?Comment

by ugamazingWorking on a 2023 M3 A2992 unit with 820-02918 board, and it uses a new USB-C power architecture, with rectangular controllers. I do not have a perfect-matching board, so have been repairing this one the old-fashioned way (slowly).
I managed to blow-away a single resistor that I can't find and can't determine the value of. It connects to ground, so I went ahead and stuffed it with a 100K resistor in case it's a simple pull-up. But, I'm now having issues with that side of the board, and am curious if it's possibly related to this resistor! I have no schematics and no board view, so... -
by dutchgauchoHi colleagues,
Looking for a schematic DA0NJNMBAD0 or the MP2845A 6-phase PWM controller.
Working here on a DA0NJNMBAD0 rev D motherboard (Asus FA507RC) with liquid damage. Board has some tiny corrosion around the MP2845A controller and one resistor is missing. I need to know the value of the resistor, but no schematics are available. Not even for the MP chip or anything similar (this is a 6 phase PWM controller).
On one side of the pad 20V is present. The other side connects to a cap and to pin 16 of the MP2845A. Resistor seems too small for VCC...-

by AskicHello,
attached is a picture with two resistors. I wonder what values are based on color of the band.
I have used this as a reference:
https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws...tor/res_2.html
Since there are 5 bands, the question is from where to start counting (what is the first band).
Based on this info, I can conclude that thick band is the last one.
Therefore the values are:
Left resistor - red(2) yellow(4) black(0) black (x1) brown (1% tol) = 240 ohm, 1% tolerance
Right resistor - brown(1) black(0) black(0) gold(x0.1)... -
by mrkmpnThis resistor is on a small board the fan connects to in a Brother MFC L5900DW. The fan does not work, and when testing this resistor it shows no reading all the way from 4M ohms, down the a continuity test, so appears to have failed open.
I've tried using a coupld of resistor calculators online, but I'm not sure which end is which on the resistor, and going both directions on the calculators I run into a value that doesn't have the correct color as an option.
I, believe the colors are black gold violet black orange, but maybe I'm mistaken on one of th... -
Can anyone tell me how it's possible for a 5-band resistor to start with black?
If it really was a zero-ohm resistor it probably wouldn't have burned.
So if there are any ideas on the value of this resistor and how to read it, please let me know.
