Help identifying resistor?

    Help identifying resistor?

    This resistor is on a small board the fan connects to in a Brother MFC L5900DW. The fan does not work, and when testing this resistor it shows no reading all the way from 4M ohms, down the a continuity test, so appears to have failed open.

    I've tried using a coupld of resistor calculators online, but I'm not sure which end is which on the resistor, and going both directions on the calculators I run into a value that doesn't have the correct color as an option.



    I, believe the colors are black gold violet black orange, but maybe I'm mistaken on one of them?

      I think it is 300Meg (or 30Meg if 3rd band blue) and is basically to discharge any static charge to ground
      This seems to be the toner sensor board.
      The board has no control over the fan, it is just a pass through board for the connection to the fan

          it's a 5 bands resistor , where the 4th digit is the multiplier , so if it's gold like you say , then it's 30.7 ohms , but frankly , I see it silver and if so , it's 3.07 ohms .

              Its a 4 band resistor with the last band likely indicating non-inductive, look at the back of the board.

                  R_J ; I'm treating the resistor as standards apply ; We know there could be exceptions , but I don't have this specific schema of Brother , neither the back image , although i have plenty. if you do , i'll take a look .

                      The resistor goes from what is likely the negative trace to the screw mounting hole, without the mounting screw the resistor does nothing. So this is not likely the original posters problem

                          Yes R_J ; Absolutely convincing . This R1 sounds like , literally a dumper diode ,or noise reduction , i don't know for sure . It's definitely not the problem , and maybe the fan was clogged or age ended , so it triggered a protection circuit (hopefully) .
                          I trust now it's non inductive also .

                              Working on a 2023 M3 A2992 unit with 820-02918 board, and it uses a new USB-C power architecture, with rectangular controllers. I do not have a perfect-matching board, so have been repairing this one the old-fashioned way (slowly).

                              I managed to blow-away a single resistor that I can't find and can't determine the value of. It connects to ground, so I went ahead and stuffed it with a 100K resistor in case it's a simple pull-up. But, I'm now having issues with that side of the board, and am curious if it's possibly related to this resistor! I have no schematics and no board view, so...

                              Hi colleagues,

                              Looking for a schematic DA0NJNMBAD0 or the MP2845A 6-phase PWM controller.

                              Working here on a DA0NJNMBAD0 rev D motherboard (Asus FA507RC) with liquid damage. Board has some tiny corrosion around the MP2845A controller and one resistor is missing. I need to know the value of the resistor, but no schematics are available. Not even for the MP chip or anything similar (this is a 6 phase PWM controller).

                              On one side of the pad 20V is present. The other side connects to a cap and to pin 16 of the MP2845A. Resistor seems too small for VCC...

                              I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                              1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                              2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet

                              Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu

                              Hi to all forum members,

                              Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
                              The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

                              Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
                              Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

                              So obv a 10k resistor. But I can't find wattage rating for it. Came from an automotive pcm. If that helps. Input voltage starts at 12v but I'm sure drops down to 3 and 5 etc.

                              Thanks in advance. And sorry if this is ridiculous. I'm still a bit of a novice.
