It's probably a stoopid question, but what other voltage regulator ICs would be compatible??

Its not a voltage regulator ic, it is a pwm controller, here is the datasheet

Followup on this, as I just got another Vizio in with the exact same problem..

Replaced the IC but still dead as a doornail..

RJ, you mentioned R915... Could you elaborate??

does r915 test ok? 4.7 ohm i think maybe its a fusible resistor that feeds that ic?

                        Aww crap... OK my mistake...

You are correct, these are two different boards..

I saw the exact same chip issue and conflated that with them being the exact same board..

                        My bust...

                                      1) What did you use for GND ref. for the meter?
                                      2) Which board are you working on, the one on post 1 or post 10?
                                      3) If it is the board is post 10, then check the Source resistor R601 to make sure it still show <1 Ohm.

This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

                                          Hi all,

got a latitude off of a old colleague which is stuck at 5v and not turning on no signs of life.

ive done some digging and it seems like pu4501 (5193 ti 1a8 adgh is the chip markings) is shorted. Getting up to around 74c. Haven't removed it yet because i haven't been able to confirm what chip it is.

Googling the markings brought up only one result, tps 51396 but the markings are 51393 so I'm assuming it's a tps51393 but googling that it seems like the chip engravings are different to the one I have so I wanted to confirm whether my assumption was right...

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
                                          by BMCappelletti
                                          Long story short:
                                          - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                          - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                          - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                          - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

Hello, anyone here have updated ezp2023+ chip database in .dat file format.

I need to add w25q256jveq chip but I do not know what data should I type.

I'm using the ezp chip dabase editor posted from here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ro-programmers

The currenty unit model that I am trying to detect is HP elitebook 640 g9 which is currently locked on admin bios....
