    Identify The Chip??? Vizio E480i-B2

Got in a Vizio Smart... Dead as a doornail.. Fuse checks out..

Inspection of power board shows this problem..

Any idea what that chip might be?? IC901???

It's probably a stoopid question, but what other voltage regulator ICs would be compatible??

Its not a voltage regulator ic, it is a pwm controller, here is the datasheet

Followup on this, as I just got another Vizio in with the exact same problem..

Replaced the IC but still dead as a doornail..

RJ, you mentioned R915... Could you elaborate??

does r915 test ok? 4.7 ohm i think maybe its a fusible resistor that feeds that ic?

                    I can't seem to locate R915...

                        Aww crap... OK my mistake...

You are correct, these are two different boards..

I saw the exact same chip issue and conflated that with them being the exact same board..

                        My bust...

are all the voltages correct as per the data sheet in post 7

Dunno how to read the specs ( am just a knuckle dragging ground pounder type tech ) but the voltages off the chip are all over the place.. Negative and positive...

im still learning too but pin 5 of the recommended ic vcc voltage in looks like it should between 11v and 25v

                                      1) What did you use for GND ref. for the meter?
                                      2) Which board are you working on, the one on post 1 or post 10?
                                      3) If it is the board is post 10, then check the Source resistor R601 to make sure it still show <1 Ohm.
