Ok it appears the PFC circuit is dead. Is there 120v coming from the separate board below it at.connector P52?

Putting the probes thusly, I got 0v

                    I'll check the other caps...

Looks like it's only the bottom one that is giving me voltage..

When you check for 120 V you were on AC for that check correct? I mean obviously are getting voltage or you wouldn't have DCV against that 1 cap. I would say half the board is working but you mentioned you have 5 V DC on pin 6 which makes me think that the rest of the board comes live after main board acknowleges signal in causes PS on to go high.

It may be a main board problem I would try playing some heat around the board to see if it is a BGA problem to start

Not the first time. But I just redid it under AC and it's still 0v...

I was beginning to wonder about the Main Board.. I have seen instances where there was no power around and it was the Main Board that was the culprit.

                              Lemme check that..

You have no 120v AC in at P52?

Edit: Scratch that p56 is where you should have your 120v P52 is switched by mainboard PS-on.

                                  OK, officially weird....

I did a "reflow" on the Main Board.. It's often more of a hail mary, but it has gotten good results..

It's also great for heating up pizza and last night's chicken..

So, I did a reflow on the board..

hooked it back up to the TV, and hit the switch on the power strip...

SUM BEACH!!! I got relay clicks!!!

So, I shut it down, pulled off the volt meter and hit the power strip switch again.. Was rewarded with a couple relay clicks..

Used the remote to turn on the TV and VIOLA!!! We have power...

Display came up.... Then I heard a click and it died..

Now it's back to what it was.. Dead as a doornail..

There you go! somethijng on that board likes heat. I would take a heating gun with a pencil tip and go around areas to find out where the problem lies

Aww right.. Final (hopefully) disposition on this..

I bought another Main Video Board.. Unfortunately, it wasn't the exact same model, but the TV did come on, albeit with a wanky screen display.. But it DID turn on, so it confirmed that the Main Video Board was the problem..

I did a hail mary reflow on the original video board and I'll be deep'ed in sheet, it worked!!

I even found a matching stand for it!!

So, all in all, a good outcome..

Thanx to all for all the assist and replies..

Hello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
                                            Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
                                            Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
                                            Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
                                            Diode D301 shorted
                                            Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing hereπŸ€”?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting πŸ˜‚.

                                            Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings

Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...
