Sony KD-55X9005C - Unknown Backlight LEDs

Hi folks, Try again (last post was hi-jacked - my fault, insufficient detail in header)...
Long story short, need either 3 X full LED strips or individual LEDs to repair this T.V.
    Has anyone seen them before....
Does anyone have a supply of them that would share (for payment obviously)....
Can anyone point me in direction of manufacturer - Sony approval repair centre tells me they are NOT exclusive to Sony....
Seems that I would be easier searching for Holy Grail ;p, possibly lack of info and/or sources of these parts is down to fact T.V is just over 2 years old....
Photos show individual LED chips, a loaded board and part identification, chips are an unusual config - 4236 (by 1.3mm thick) and are side soldered to PCB (just visible in photos)
Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated....

I had a look at a few sites and was unable to find any that looked like these, I found the complete strips but they are out of stock.
Any info on who made the actual panel? I doubt it was Sony.

May be worth taking a look at the following site.
      https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282751199...528&rmvSB=true

      Edit.
I see the listing has now ended. Didn't notice when first looked.

Re: Sony KD-55X9005C - Unknown Backlight LEDs

Hi RJ/Dick Barton, Yep, you and I have found traces of the elusive chip, but no actual chip. RJ - I am still corresponding with Sony on forums, but they have offered only a "chargeable replacement" - I queried this - they will supply a "new for old" t.v. for only £1200 (yes seriously - they want what amounts to a large deposit for a newer/better t.v) to replace my current one, that (now) has question marks over its reliability - rather than supporting me with either new components (at my expense) to repair and extend this t.v. a little longer than its current age!!
Will endeavour to remove a chip (without damage) in the off-chance a part number or manufacturer info. is there - will update later, its getting dark and I've just typed up a letter (in draft form) that I propose to send to Sony.
They do commit to customer support in the form of replacement part provision - see their UK website, I only want them to honour that policy statement - it's a cheaper option, if they supply parts or point me in right direction, that will suffice....Can only try.

Alternative method is to put it all back together and claim against the retailer under the consumer rights act that the TV should last longer than 2 years.
Remove the LED from the strip and this is no longer possible. I very much doubt there is a manufacturer's mark on it.

Before throwing it in, and since the backlight PSU works, consider installing the normal backlight strips that are available and have a working TV again.

I thank everyone with their contributions and advice.
                To respond to each :-
I have considered re-assembly and a claim under Consumer protection law - please read on - I hopefully have solution.
Putting together an alternative led source has also been considered, however, the optical setup on this t.v. is unusual (well - to me anyway) - the leds are designed to project their luminance into a thin transparent channel - effectively a thin 'box' with a 'gap' to allow the led light to enter and do its job - the remaining display, on its backside is sealed in black paint or similar - a diffuser within the glass panel "spreads out" this light - upwards and out within and it appears this is a major factor in the design of the chip that actually produces the light - it has physical characteristics and optical light output unique to the t.v's requirements (because of thin design?).
Would a work-around solve this - I'm not so sure - I think the leds and display panel are very much a "matched-pair" i.e., the optics allow little in the way of variance from original design! - The installation area is very tight so the physical size of a replacement led or full strip is extremely limiting.
The led, as a new replacement item, is proving very difficult, pinging e-mails to suppliers in the east suggests (by their responses) that they haven't seen them before.
However, following advice from a similar thread, I did contact a seller on eBay who had sold a full component panel from this model late last year - I enquired with them and discovered that that sale had not included the three led panels - I have purchased them and am waiting delivery - next week sometime - fully working as well!!. I will update.
Once again thanks for contributions and advice which has hopefully paid off.

That's good to hear. Fingers crossed for you.
I'd be interested in buying some of those LEDs you have on your faulty strip if you don't have any plans for it.

It's called "Edge Lit"instead of Back Lit I have seen a few of them myself. I have here a Samsung UN55ES6100 with LEDs similar to these. They "stand up"as opposed to lying down and being covered by lenses.

Still waiting for LEDs. I would like views on the circumstances bringing me to this forum (although pleased I did!!) - Sony have a product support policy on their webpages as follows :-
"When your product is out of warranty, acquiring spare parts and fixing your product becomes your decision. Even if your product is out of warranty, don’t hesitate to contact our approved partner (EET Europarts) or our Authorized Service Centers to acquire the part(s) you wish to replace yourself."
Well guess what, they don't, neither Service Centre, nor EET can provide LEDs - consumable items. Service Centre offered a replacement t.v. (at £1300+ expense to me). I am "discussing" this non-warranty customer/manufacturer relationship with Sony at the moment - Do they supply spare parts or not? - I don't mean remotes or replacement t.v. legs ;p - will advise on that as well - if they can't or won't provide a spares outlet providing a reasonable source of parts, I think they should review their policy above - It ain't accurate - in fact it is misleading.

Hi mmartell, Similar devices in other manufacturers products is of some good news - coincidently, do Samsung provide a "spare part" service for those LED's.
The main question here (as alluded to in my last post) is on availability of these parts - Even as a DIY'r (with more experience in PC and automotive repairs/maintenance) I find my situation a bit unnerving - too much control/restrictive practices.
Why do these global companies NOT support the very people who made them global - You and I?? - It would make them look very customer centred.

                              SUCCESS!!!
Parts arrived afternoon 23rd, installed them yesterday (24th) - what I received was full aluminium panel (yep - all 1.3m X 0.5m) with LED panels and their connection ribbons (to the LD Driver board). I used a full panel (72 LED's on board) to replace the faulty board on mine - removed and replaced the thin (felt?) strip that is located full width above the three LED boards (light isolator or what?) ensuring that the thin heat transfer strip behind the panels was firmly against each of the (216 LED's) and the aluminium panel.
After re-assembly (no screws left over!!!) I stood the T.V up and switched on....white light....green light....green light.....(repeat...) no screen activity - switched it off tried again (repeat last symptoms...) - green light appears to indicate a software error, so, having a spare A/V (main) board - swapped them over and.....white light - swirling coloured orbs (holds breath...) then "Android" appeared.
Mounted T.V back on its stand, re-connected all the outputs (HDMI and optical audio), switched on - T.V powered up, back in shop display mode (with the SMART indicator light flashing blue, so after 2 software updates, first for the 200+ apps - no problem, and a second update (after trying to activate my Netflix account) - both updates were 30 minutes. All appears good after about 12 hours of operation.
Max kudos to anyone contributing here.
Questions remain though on the lack of support from manufacturer.
In relation to the faulty A/V (main) board - there MAY have been a slight misalignment problem on the connection ribbon to T-con board) I only noticed it during the change to spare board - Didn't want risk disturbing the repair to check!!!
Again brilliant forum populated by good people - now that I've time, I'll see is I can contribute anywhere with my limited knowledge.

Not being able to source identical or similar/compatible parts/LEDs is rare.
Getting help from one of the big manufacturers to help identify or dare I say it, help source a component, you have to be joking.
They recommend the service centre every time, even if you politely explain what you do and fully accept any liability for any failure etc.
I've had better success from smaller companies, those that seem to take real pride in their product and stand by it, sometimes providing free/cost price components.

It is poor they don't have the parts themselves on such a new TV and being a rare design of LED none of the factories in China seem to be making them.

If you're asking if led failure is rare on the contrary it's all too common.

So I understand what did you actually replace, the led strips ?

                                          Hi There!
Having fixed 5-6 TV sets by replacing full LED strips, and having watched other people fix that by replacing just one LED in the strip, my question now is what should I consider before doing so.

At this time I have some old strips removed from TV's with all but one LED working. Are there different voltage/current LED on different strips? Are 99% of them just the same and interchangeable?

How do you find which specific model is needed for each strip? When I check if a LED is OK by attaching the multimeter leads to the individual led pads on the strips I...

                                          Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

Hi Everyone, please can I share my situation and see if anyone has any ideas? I'm trying to help my brother out, but am at the outer limits of my knowledge. I'd like to do my best before this laptop gets thrown away - it's quite a good spec and I think it'd be a shame to trash it without trying. Also, I'd like to understand the problem for my own experience.

I've been searching online, but am not really any the wiser.
