how can i test individual leds without tester

Hello I have TCL 65S4 and it has no backlight, seems common problem on this tv to have bad LED's. I have no tester though I thought I could just test each LED with 2xAA batteries for 3v but it doesnt light up at all?
I saw a vid with LED tester on this TV and it had 130v for 1 good line which is 24 LEDs does that mean it needs around 5.5v per LED?

I usually use 3 or 4AA with a drop resistor to limit to about 10mA, so it can only test LEDs one at a time. However this does not tell the difference between a shorted or open LED nor its ability when at full current (and full brightness).

One simple mod is use 4AA and a red LED in series with a limiting resistor and the device you want to test, so you can definitively tell the difference between a shorted and an open LED - though in most situations it doesn't matter the failure, if it doesn't light it needs to be replaced anyway...

you have to scratch the bars in the right points and connect the battery, but this simple test is not enough to find those half damaged leds.. you better build a self made led tester with two testing currents, one medium, one very low, with very low one you will probably find those near to full shorted, thus semishorted
      those are 6v leds

Thanks guys I added another two AAs and found one LED not lighting up at all so thats all the confirmation i need to order a backlight set for it

add this electronic circuit to your multimeter and get an amazing option

Mextraf on youtube. I have made this and used a cheap harbor freight mm and it does work.. Try to use a lamp circuit with a transformer on board (safer maybe) I did have plenty of home depot eco smart bulbs that were flikkering of going off after 10 mins.

i saw a vid to just bridge the bad LED and i did that and tv all working again. ill keep backlight level low and hope others dont blow.
I'm surprised nothing broke I dont even have suction tools to lift panel. i copied this guys method and it worked a treat. https://youtu.be/JHvysrIbY1U?t=486

ok, but I hope you didn't have that same long awkward trip to where he put it.

LED Strip test points and testing?
                  by lmcancu
Hi is there a guide in this forum on how to test the LED backlight TV strips? I purchased an LED tester on amazon, but I am a bit confused on the test points and how to test the individual LEDs? I took apart a RCA 43" TV Rlded4331b. Please see attached pictures. I understand that all the LEDs are in series, but on these strips I don't see any individual test points for each LED? Any tips or guides?
                  Thanks in advance...

                  Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

How Can I test PWM DM0365R?
                  by chth96
                  Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

So I use this TV daily as a second monitor for my PC or my Playstation - at one point a few months back I tried to fix the problem - but in the process, I figured out something that works so I haven't posted this for awhile. It is an annoying trick to have to do though, so I decided to post about it to see if anyone could spot what's wrong. It baffles me because it works on it's own half the time.

When I first got this TV, I was told it wouldn't turn on, and of course I did the flashlight test, and the image was there. Also, the red LED on the front indicated that it had power (it...

TCL 55S425 backlights wont turn off
                  by handsworth
Need some advice here. So I picked up this 55" off the curb and diagnosed it with bad leds. I opened it up, tested the 4 strips with the tester and yes, 2 strips had burnt leds. I ordered a new set and installed them. But before putting tv back together, I always test tv to make sure I did it correctly. Tv lights up and works, however when turning tv off, the top set of leds remain on. Swapped power supply with identical one and same results. Swapped MB with identical one, same results. So I put the tv back together and reset MB. Tv works fine like new, but leds remain on when powering...
