Well, sounds like you did everything correctly and the most likely answer is the dark spots were there all along, but just not obvious or noted with the bad LED's. It's a win some lose some scenario, just hard to accept sometimes when the unexpected occurs and knowing you put great care in the process.

I know. The suction cups were rated at 45lbs. So it was actually less than shopjimmy. I'm gonna keep working with it. I may pull the panel again and see what I can accomplish tinkering with the back of the panel. Hell it can't hurt...

"If you press on the panel in those spots, they lighten to match the rest of the picture."
wait, maybe i'm wrong with the leds, under the diffusor sheets was there displaced those white plastic tips that supports the layers on top? In ccfl systems them sadly become cooked by heat and brokes at the minimum pressure, maybe is also the case for l.e.d. systems.

you can glue at the place toothpicks with bicomponent glue and paint them in white.

Yeah, there were quite a few that were unusable. Honestly I'd say about 50%. They just snapped. Would that make a big difference? When I push in on the panel, it lightens up and shows the picture like the rest of the screen but only under where my hand is.

Yes it's vital, the diffusers are studied to be at the right distance.

Those sheets between the LCD screen and the backlight make a sandwich of sorts so if it's sagging because they're not propped up properly then yes you can have image problems. When you push on the screen you're closing the gap manually.

These "props" are in backlit led panels but not Edge lit I think.

A faster way to fix the toothpicks is hot glue gun

You are correct also I have seen the props in both backlit and edge lit models. The thie diffusers cannot sag at all.

When you see the dark areas of the screen does it look like the perimeter between the dark and where the screen actually works has a Brown tinge to the picture?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                          Assuming...

Corsair K70 LUX RGB dying LEDs
                          by Pipolups
                          Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

                          Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                          Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                          by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
